Vanessa Hudgens is moving away from the High School Musical franchise and the Disney Channel all together. She says that High School Musical 3: Senior Year will be the end of her involvement with HSM.
Vanessa is already involved in a project that will be released sometime in 2009, after High School Musical 3. It’s her movie ‘Will’ that we’ve all been seeing pictures of. This character that Vanessa plays in “Will” is significantly darker than anything she’s ever done with Disney.
“My look is definitely more dark than in HSM. I play kind of the emo, kept away from everybody else in her own world’ kinda girl,” Vanessa told ET. “She wears a lot of black. She always has longsleeves with thumbs in them.”
Are you sad HSM3 is the end for Vanessa as far as Disney goes? It will be interesting to see what roles she takes on and where her career takes her.

I dont remember Vanessa saying that HSM3 is the end of Disney for her, just that HSM3 is the end of HSM for her. Now I dont think she wouldn’t say this, just that I dont remember her saying it.
Also, considering Vanessa is signed with Hollywood Records (which is the Disney record label) she will still be forced to have some involvement with Disney.
I love Vanessa, along with the HSM movies. Tho i hope shes not getting arrogant. She seems to be saying shes better than Disney and doesnt really need it anymore. Personally i think she is still young enough to do little Disney things here and there if shes offered them. Plus she owes it to Disney and all of the fans of HSM. The only reason she is as big as she is, is because of HSM and the fan reaction. But i still love her and will support her in whatever it is she decides shes going to do.
That’s true Stacy. I think it’s, like you said, the HSM franchise and then maybe the Disney Channel, but not Disney movies.
@Maria – I hope she does more Disney stuff. It just seems to suit her. It’ll be interesting to see what she’s like in her movie Will.
The fact is she is not signed to the Disney Channel on a recurring series but was part of the HSM franchise, which they sign on to do movie by movie so she has a right to move on to other things as she is not in a contract with the channel.
She has to move on With her career and find projects to do outside of Disney if she wants to have a good career as an actress. I think she has found a good launch pad with her new movie ‘Will’ which is a movie that her fans will like and it’s not a Disney movie and she gets to show us more of her acting range. Also she does not think she is ‘ too good’ for Disney she is just trying to grow up and her record company is Hollywood Records which is owned by Disney so she has no problem with Disney as she is still working with them in regards to her music career and HSM3.
