People has a tiny bit more information that confirms that Hilary Duff has broken up with Joel Madden:
It’s over for the tattooed rocker and his teen queen: Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden and Hilary Duff have broken up after nearly two and a half years together, his manager confirms to PEOPLE.
"I can indeed confirm that Joel is single," the band’s manager, Steve Feinberg, says. "We are not going to elaborate on Joel’s personal life but I will say they have split."
Madden made a DJ appearance at Chicago hot spot Enclave on Wednesday night, and according to a source, told clubgoers he and Duff had split up. He "seemed pretty upset," the witness said.
Madden, 27, and Duff, 19, only went public as a couple last year, with Madden co-producing and co-writing three tracks on her greatest-hits album, Most Wanted.
"I’ve found the perfect person," Madden told PEOPLE in October of Duff. "She’s confident, she accepts me for my imperfections and she is good to me. I never have to question if she’s going to be there, because I know she will be."
It’s such tragic news and I hope it was for the best, that both will be happy.

Personally, I think Hilary is just 19, she got a long path ahead of her. Basically, she is only a kid..she don’t need any man at this age…I mean she have a loving family by her side. That’s exactly what she needed at this age. I would suggest that she should stay focused & concentrate on her career. I could see that she’s a hard-working person, caring & loving.. example: charity works & donations, loves her parents & sister, determined, and special …unlike other teen celebrities in Hollywood…she do cared about her fans b/c she thinks that she’s responsible in setting a good example for them…
As for the break-up, I don’t think it’s fair that you people started to attack her without any knowledge of the “real truth” behind this…Joel have spoken on his behalf…but Hil never responded…Maybe she is also hurt…so please give the kid a break…stop attacking her…there’s always a reason behind this…as for her…I think she is a rational person…so I will repect it if it’s her choice…Personally, I don’t think Joel suit her at all…maybe when she was younger when she was naive…but now she has grown up to be an intelligent & elegant individual. I don’t want to look at things from a colored glass, but that’s just my opinion.
