March 15th:

Wow! Finally back in the U.S.A., I am so happy! The first thing I did was grab a double tall non-fat latte from Starbucks! When I got home, all of my dogs jumped on me and we played (They really missed me!).

My sissy Hails and my mom Swoozie were waiting with surprises. My curtains were finally finished after six months. They look gr8! I also got a new black counter top. My house really looks good. I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed with my doggies. My mom cooked one of my fav dishes. It’s like beef with jalapeno peppers and melted cheese. We are going to have a girls’ night and then go 2 bed. I’m kinda jet lagged after an 11 hour flight.

Gotta go and eat, I’ll holla later.

March 16th:

I am settling down and trying to get adjusted to the time change from London to California. I had yesterday off, and now it’s time to kick it into full gear! Dignity drops on April 3rd! I am excited because this album is closer to my heart more than any other album.

My week-at-a-glance…I go to Toronto for 3 days to do MuchMusic and some press, and then to NYC to host TRL for a week, and a few photo shoots in between. I am busy but loving what I do. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

PS. The first photo is from a firehouse I visited in Soho London. We ran a charity for people whose homes were destroyed by fire. I had a blast meeting real firemen who love their jobs!

PPS. Hey, who can tell me what the second pic reminds you of? I am at the lounge in London’s Heathrow Airport and this chair looks pretty familiar!

March 19th – design blog:

Hi Fashionistas,

I’m almost finished with my European tour promoting the new album, Dignity. A big THANK YOU to all my European fans for making my trip so incredible!!! I’ll be back in the U.S. soon and at the end of the month I’ll be spending a few days in Toronto seeing fans and doing MuchMusic and as much as I can to push the album and also, a week hosting TRL in NYC, one of my favorite adopted cities!

While I’ve been traveling with my band, my design team (my "other" band) and I have been planning the design for our new NYC Design Studio. Before I left for Europe, we finalized the space and it’s so cool right in the heart of New York’s Garment Center. The studio is a wonderful open space with lots of windows for beautiful natural light. A creative space is important for creative thinking!

Over the phone and through emails we’ve been planning just about everything from wall colors to furniture. Actually, I called from Milan while the team was shopping in Soho so we could finalize the desks and the perfect work table. I wanted a big table that all of us could sit around while we put the line together. My stuff collection is growing into more areas and I needed to see everything together all at once. Sometimes I take an idea from clothing and try it for accessories or I find cool print ideas from my home collection for stationery.

Choosing the paint colors was the most fun for the studio. As you know from my home, I REALLY love rich colors. We’re not painting any of the walls the same color but mixing dark reds, perfect neutrals, and softer corals. I looked at color swatches scanned and emailed from the team and they began trying the colors on the walls. I hear everything is almost a perfect match except for one hard to mix color. It’s not a coral or dusty pink but something in between. The perfect color match is the color of the velvet lining used in hardware cabinets from my Grandfather’s store in Texas that I shipped from LA. They’re beautiful and vintage and remind me of home! They will be so cool for showing my accessories in the new showroom.

Looks like the team will have to take a drawer to the paint store : ) !
