At her most recent concert in Mexico, Hilary Duff had some technical difficulties that resulted in people accusing her of lip synching. Hilary Duff was seen to be singing into the mic, but no sound could be heard. The glitch is seen below:
Here is a report from PEOPLE, which denies the rumor:
"She was not lip-synching," her reps tell PEOPLE. "It was faulty equipment. There was no sound coming out, but she was singing."
According to the tour staff, Hilary was relying on local sound equipment rather than her own gear and the microphone was accidentally set to mute.

I believe she doesn’t lip-syncing or anything. It’s probably just some tech-problems. She is my role model and I believe she doesn’t. But if she really did, then I would be quite disappointed…

It does seem a bit dubious at first, but listen to how it sounds when she sings “I can’t believe it’s really you”… It sounds like the sound is too loud, as if the soundman is adjusting the mic as Hilary is singing. If it were a backtrack playing it may be louder, but it wouldn’t be distorted like it was. It seriously sounded like the mic was off, and then it was too loud when she first started singing (which causes the distortion, you know how it sounds when someone eats the mic too much?), and then it was adjusted. I’ve always watched her carefully to try to catch her lip-syncing, but I’ve never found a convincing case; this video only confirms to me that she wasn’t lip-syncing.
