How many calories do celebrities eat?

Well, here’s a few celebrity calorie counters for you:

Kirstie Alley revealed how at her heaviest she demolished up to an astonishing 28,000 calories a day.Kirstie now eats healthily — around 1,500-2,000 calories a day.

RENEE ZELLWEGER: for both Bridget Jones films Renee consumed 4,780 calories a day for three months, eating 20 doughnuts a day, battered beef, fast-food burgers, chips and shakes as well as pizza and peanut butter.

After the first film, she embarked on the Atkins diet. Now the 5ft 5in star maintains her 7st figure on tuna, cold meats, dressing-free salads and raw vegetables.

Two poached eggs: 148 cal.
One banana: 95 cal.
One tuna steak: 180cal.
Two portions dressing-free mixed salad: 100 cal.
100g cured thinly sliced beef: 160 cal.
One portion raw vegetables: 90 cal.
Total: 773 CAL.

KATE WINSLET: Having weighed more than 13st at school, she earned the nickname Blubber and was mercilessly teased. In 1992, she realised she was being cast for her size and lost 3st inside 12 months, leaving her a healthy 10st.

But two years later she convinced herself the industry would grant her entry only if she was skinny. She existed on only an apple a day and her weight plummeted to 7st 10lb.

In 2003, while pregnant with her second child, Joe, she gained nearly 4st. She lost this following an Oriental face-reading diet — where an analysis of skin, hair and eyes determined the best way for Kate to shed the pounds. Kate ate no red meat or milk, instead filling herself on chicken, potatoes, salad and butter.

One tuna salad: 386 cal.
One portion roast chicken: 255 cal.
One large baked potato: 176 cal.
One tbspn butter: 102 cal.
Total: 919 cal.

LIZ HURLEY: In the past, Liz has admitted to ‘eating very little breakfast, not too much more lunch. Then tiny little snacks in the day, such as a banana or six raisins. The only meal I have is dinner’.

Dinner consisted of a combination of brown rice, oatcakes and steamed fish. She also takes regular pilates classes which burn around 300 calories per session.

One banana: 95 cal.
Six raisins: 10 cal.
One 100g serving brown rice: 111 cal.
One oatcake: 48 cal.
One portion steamed cod: 90 cal.
One portion steamed haddock: 95 cal.
Total: 449 cal.

GWYNETH PALTROW: Mother-of-two Gwyneth has followed a macrobiotic diet for years. Recently she adopted a diet prescribed by celebrity health guru Dr Joshi.

As well as dairy, red meat and alcohol, she is banned from eating wheat, tomatoes, peppers, fruit, sugar and gluten. Typically she eats celery sticks for breakfast, lentil soup for lunch and salmon with brown rice for dinner.

One portion celery sticks: 10 cal.
One portion lentil soup: 150 cal.
One portion grilled salmon: 127cal.
One 200g portion cooked brown rice: 216 cal.
Total: 503 cal.

KELLY OSBOURNE: After dinner with Sir Elton John in 2003, Kelly suffered severe food poisoning. She vowed never to eat a piece of fish again — sticking to cheeseburgers, hot dogs and chips. Besides, she recently told Teen Vogue: ‘Skinny celebrities look beautiful in photographs, but when you see them in person they look hungry.’

One bacon double cheeseburger with relish: 708 cal.
One portion large French fries: 570 cal.
One vanilla milkshake: 211 cal.
One hotdog in white bun: 242 cal.
One portion fried onions: 180 cal.
One large Coca Cola: 255 cal.
Total: 2,166 cal.

CLAUDIA SCHIFFER: For supermodel and mother-of-two Claudia, a ‘no breakfast’ rule works best. She says: ‘I eat nothing but fruit and vegetables before noon.’ When she does eat, her diet consists of grilled chicken salad and water for lunch and a dinner of steamed fish, steamed vegetables and water(she does not drink alcohol).

One apple: 47 cal.
One orange: 37cal.
One 100g serving grapes: 60 cal.
One portion grilled chicken breast with no skin: 215 cal.
One serving mixed salad (no dressing): 50 cal.
One portion steamed cod: 90cal.
One serving steamed vegetables: 38 cal.
Water: 0 cal.
Total: 537 cal.

VICTORIA BECKHAM: Before the birth of her third child Cruz, Mrs Beckham was on the strawberry diet. She ate a bowl of strawberries for breakfast and little else for the rest of the day, except for litres of mineral water.

With such strict calorific intake, she maintained her 23in waist — the same measurement as a seven-year-old child’s. Victoria upped her eating when she fell pregnant, but five weeks after Cruz was born her flat tummy was back. She said it was down to ‘sensible eating’ and sticking to solely Spanish food.

Victoria reportedly ate lots of paella, olives and omelettes to shed the baby bump.

152g of strawberries: 49 cal.
One portion paella: 320 cal.
One 200g portion cooked brown rice: 216 cal.
One 8g portion olives: 10 cal.
Total: 595 cal.

i used to eat 500 cals a day with my eating disorder. i lost 10-12kgs (20-25lbs) but stopped losing weight after 3-4 months… actually, usually it was less, about 400-600. now i eat like, 1500-2000, or try to.

500 calories a day is definitely not enough. There is no way they eat that way all the time unless they’re getting fat injected into them or something. Let’s assume that they have a low BMR of 1000 That would mean that each day they have a net loss of a least 500 calories. Which would mean that they were losing at least a pound a week (a pound of fat is 3500 calories). Assuming this diet was a long term thing, let us take renee zelwegger for example who supposedly weighs 98 pounds (giving her a very low bmi of about 16.2, within the diagnosis of anorexia) in just 10 weeks she would weigh 88 pounds, giving her a bmi of 14.7, making her literally on the verge of death. It states on wikipedia that the average anorexic eats 600-800 cals a day. 500 isn’t normal. It’s what I eat and I have an eating disorder. Not to mention I lose about 3-4 pounds a week (Inc exercise).

I eat about 2400 calories a day with an hour of cardio 3-6 times a week… I’m 5’8 and 10″st” and I am thin and muscular.

I can’t even fathom eating fewer than 1000 calories because I would simply perish… Hard for me to comprehend eating 500 and I feel pretty bad for those who have to limit themselves so much.

  5. By Never gonna give up

500 cal/day= This would limit me to 1 coffee with milk, 2 glasses of wine, a banana and 4 sticks of gum.

    what a sack of %$#@

Celebrities are not healthy role models, they are paid to abuse their bodies to fit the role of of a waif!

    • By carlita

couldn’t agree with your more. this is crap….

if you eat 500 cals a day, sure your body CAN accomodate that… but eating so little slows down your metabolism…. basically you’re screwing yourself out of the ability to eat a normal amount of food.

  6. By Yuki

I guess half of you haven’t even tried… I mean I’ve been eating no more then 500 cal. a day either and I feel perfectly fine.. I eat.. But the foods I eat are very low in cal. And that stuff about your metabolism? Bunch of bull.. so yeah ;)

    • By JV

For how long? Cause I hope you don’t enjoy having full hair and that you enjoy heart palpitations.

    • By madaly

      so what do you eat????.
i want to start the 500 cal. a day to

  7. By nope

This is just ridiculous — everyone is making assumptions about these women based on nothing. Look at the actual calculations under the individuals. Nowhere did I find any of them mention that they ate ONE serving of such and such a food. It is very possible that these women eat double or triple the calories this article says they eat. I’m not saying they eat healthfully, but I’m not saying they don’t, either. Why? Because I don’t know them and I’m certainly not going to judge them. Yeah, some of them are very, very thin, but guess what? I know plenty of thin girls in real life who eat like cookie monster on a binge. Don’t take “articles” like this seriously.

  8. By Sam

These women are not eating enough daily calories to maintain proper health. They should be eating at least 1200 calories a day. Any medical doctor or dietician worth his/her salt would say the same.

  9. By emma

I ate about 500 calories a day wen I had a eating disorder and 2 of my teath started to rot I had to have them taken out.I’m 10 stone now and 5.1 in height and much hapier I have curves now. I think how can anyone want to be skinny ? Why are they on a diet? There not fat? They must have eating disorders.we worry to much about what we weigh I eat what I want now I’m not botherd. I no as soon as I start to worry about my weight are only have a eating disorder again.you only live 1 life do not spend the rest of your lifes worryin about your bloody weight go have a burger lol were women and we look beter with abit of weight on us.it was these celebritys that give me the eating disorder in the 1st place.who wants to be on a diet for the rest of there lifes I no I don’t.

    • By vicky

ur 5.1 in height and 10 stone? tats pretty balloon looking, ur bmi is 26 tats overweight and unhealthy aswell as those celebrities.

  10. By Jessica

For some of the girls here who can maintain 100 lbs on 1800 calories, you guys are NOT the norm and should consider yourselves very lucky. I’m 5’2 and weigh 110 LBS. but am trying to lose those extra 10 pounds or so.

I never eat more than 1200 kcal a day and I run for 30 minutes each day. I hope that nets 500 kcal by the end of the day. Some of you guys are really hardcore. I would be miserable if I couldn’t have a little treat each day, like half a milk chocolate digestive biscuit is 42kcal. I’m going to try to bring my food intake down to 1000 today and from now on…. to see if this really works!

  11. By really?

Wow this is ridiculous! I mean really its just sad. I feel bad for these women that cant enjoy life or enjoy a nice dinner with their significant other. There are some celebs that are beautiful like kim kardashian and beyonce they are not fat, they are healthy and they look damn good. I would wanna look like them not Victoria Beckham

  12. By Claire

from someone loving the skinny look and waning to be thin this is great because i can follow in their lead…bring it on and more!

  13. By Ash

This is out of control! Oh my gosh. All you girls need to not focus on the celebs. If Posh did not have fake boobs, she would definitely look anorexic. Many of the runway models also look anorexic. They don’t look good! Girls that look good are Kim Kardashian, for example. Everyone says she has a “fat ass” but she is just a NORMAL, healthy size 4 or 6 probably. Who cares! I used to be about 110 pounds, 5’4″ and I think I looked too thin. I now weigh about 120, and I think I look fine.. considering I still wear a size 2! Why would you ever want to only eat 500 calories a day?? Everything is good in moderation. If you have a craving for pizza, eat it! Just don’t binge and eat 8 slices because you will regret it later.

    • By Noel

easy for you to say if your only a size 2!

  14. By Emilia

I have suffered with eatin disorder for as long as 8 years.
Firstly havin anorexia when i was 15 for 2 years, eatig an apple and dark slice of bread a day. Managed to cure it with hospital and plenty of psyhologist appointments. But after getting to my so called healthy weight the problems started again. Once you suffer with eathin disorder you never get rid of it!
You constantly think of what you eat, know the calories of each thing you put in your mouth. Now i weiht 8.5 stone and my hight is 5´8. And reacently i have started with Atkins diet which means i count calories as well as carbs. It seems like your mind never rests in peace, a way to keep you on your heels all the time. I can not imagine how celebreties must feel after been watched every day and things you eat have been put in place for you by your personal trainer or weight watcher to keep the image that sells.
I do have to say that i don´t think about food all the time as my body dose not need it that much and i do feel much more happier with myself when i watch what i eat then being able to eat everything and feel guitly.
    Illness or not!!!

    • By gianna

I had an eating disorder forever and I thought I would never be “cured”
Well, today, I can’t say that I don’t think about being thinner most of the time, but the mirror does not define who I am as a person.
Want to know the magic cure? Are you ready? Go help someone! Go serve the hungry, help the needy, be there for a friend who is sick, visit the elderly. Be the hands and feet of God. When we are helping others, it’s hard to think of ourselves. And helping people helps you find out who you are and where your gifted. Go try it!

welll i do maintain a 500 calorie diet. i tried eating 1000 ish calorie diet and just felt discusting after the week. i feel way better only eating 500 calories

  16. By cookie

    you guys are all gay.

    • By Amanda

      Yes, we jolly well are!

  17. By rachel

if you only eat 500kcals a day (and it is possible to live on without loosing any weight after a while) then your body becomes used to only living off 500kcals a day and wont get hungry. The more you eat, the more you stretch your stomach, the more hungry you become. It works in reverse aswell.
Less you eat< stomach shrinks< you feel fuller on less.

ALSO this hasn’t been mentioned once, i find it amazing.
For people who are 98lbs and can still eat 1800-2000kcals a day, it’s all in their metabolism. Everyones metabolism is different. Your lucky if you can eat whatever you want and not gain, use it while your young, it doesn’t last forever. And like mine, i have a slow metabolism, if i ate 1800kcals a day i’d gain lbs every 2 days. just to clear up.

  18. By Mimi

by one 500 cal meal for the whole day I mean sort on meal into 3 ..200 cals is the mean and 300 for snacks ..an apple and orange ..cashews…

  19. By Mimi

I have been on the 500 calorie diet too…its not as hard as I thought…I have found that if you prepare your food in advance you have at your need low cal foods…also keeping a journal of what you eat. noting the cals in whatever food it was…I also have a list of all low cal or no cal foods and its not hard at all ..I find that when I play kick ball or run with my kids…I have a good time and I get exercise. I would say to all that want to loose weight to find foods you like and make a plan of 500 cals a day and incorporating foods you like in portions…and If thats hard …try eating one 500 cal mealing for the whole day.

  20. By Megan

Ok I started doing the 500 cal a day diet 2 monthes ago. I’m completely healthy. No hair loss, no dizziness, nothing! Well, except for the fact I’ve lost 24 pounds :) and I’m not always hungry. It depends on what u eat!
