Many people have wondered whether Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will fly back to the U.S. for Barack Obama’s inauguration as the 44th president of the United States. I really don’t know if they will and am not sure how possible it is. Berlin is far enough ahead that it is technically possible that they could have gone to the premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, then out for dinner at VAU restaurant, and THEN hopped on a plane (with or without the kids) to fly to Washington last night/early this morning.
I’m not sure if they would have though. With so much going on for Brad professionally – wrapping up his scenes for Inglourious Basterds and promoting Benjamin Button at the European premieres – plus all the awards shows past and present, the Jolie-Pitt parents have been more than just a little busy.
I’ll bet they would like to be in DC this morning though, on such a historical day, especially since we know that Brad was a huge Obama supporter and even hung out in the park in Chicago on election night. Angelina was never vocal enough for us to know for sure whether she was supporting Obama or not, but regardless, I know she’ll be interested in seeing what Obama does for international relations and to support the work of the UNHCR. I’m sure they would very much love to be watching the Inauguration live and in person.
However, it’s just as likely that they’ll end up watching it at home with the kids, explaining the process to them in young person terms. Or perhaps they’ll attend one of the many Inauguration parties that will be going on all over the world in some venue or a private party in someone’s home.
What do you think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will do on Inauguration Day?

thought this was funny. Chris Rock commenting on Obama AND brad Pitt. From:
http://us.imdb.com/news/ni0653805/
“He’s just one of those guys, you know, like Will Smith. There’s no Will Smith jokes. There’s no Brad Pitt jokes. You know, what are you going to say? ‘You used to have sex with Jennifer Aniston. Now you have sex with Angelina Jolie. You’re such a loser.’ What do you say? ‘Ooh, your movies are big. You make $20 million.’ There’s nothing to say about Brad Pitt.
“(With Obama) it’s like, ‘Ooh, you’re young and virile and you’ve got a beautiful wife and kids. You’re the first African-American president.’ You know, what do you say?”

I think they´ll be watching the inauguration party at home in Berlin. It´s easier that way than dragging the children from Berlin to Washington and back again. Like Brad said recently he´s been dragging the family from continent to another and now they deserve to stay put for some time. Here in Europe they have some privacy and can relax. They sure can do it in NOLA too but he said that they like France a lot. And besides at least Mad and Pax are learning French so staying in France will be good for them. Maybe Zee and Shi will soon start to learn French too. But wherever they are right now they sure are having a great time as a family and relaxing. God bless them always!

i think they’re too tired or exhausted to travel, i mean with all the premieres, dinner and wrapping up party. i think it would be best if they just stay at home and watch it from there. but i would be really impressed if they will show up at the inaguration.

Who knows…knowing them they might already be in DC….LOL!
If not they are probably back in France and hosting their own inauguration party.

It will be 6pm in Berlin, so I bet all 8 of them will be sitting around the TV watching History together!

Rita, may be this is just a cultural thing, but I find Chris Rock’s comment about Brad very rude. What do others think or is it just me?

Its just a cultural thing. Chris Rock is a comedian and there for you have to take it that way either funny on, for sock value. But he is just trying to say that there won’t be a lot of jokes about Obama because like Brad there is nothing to make fun of. I tend to disagree and could think of a lot of dry humours thing to say about Obama starting with the cloths his wife wore yesterday, and “the sliding on the fence” speech he made. I really wish he had been clearer in his policies.
As for Brad I am sure we could find something to make fun of, I bet they laugh at them selves every day as is healthy.

Fan from Vietnam – He’s not trying to be rude at all, but I know that might be hard to tell if you don’t know Chris Rock’s humor style or if the translation doesn’t work well. What he’s really saying is that you can make fun of a lot of people but it’s impossible to make fun of Brad Pitt because what can you make fun of? He’s got such a great life going on that there’s nothing you can laugh at him for. So he’s not being rude he’s actually complimenting Brad on a great life and good luck. :)

Sherry, thanks for explaining that! While I never found Chris Rock’s comments rude, I was a little annoyed to discover that he had managed to bring JA into them. However, now that you’ve explained it I understand that he was just trying to point out that it’s impossible to make fun of Brad, and wasn’t at all trying to add flames to the “triangle” fire.
All of that said, why is everyone saying they think/hope the J-Ps will go back to France after the SAG awards? Nothing wrong with France or anything, but I’m just a little surprised that no one has suggested that they might go back to New Orleans.
