There is a good possibility that a few “High School Musical 3″ songs will be nominated for an Oscar. The movie has 11 songs that are eligible for a nomination in “Best Original Song” category.
On January 6th, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will screen clips from the movie and then vote to decide which songs should be nominated. How cool would it be to see Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and the rest of the HSM3 cast on the red carpet?!
A few of the songs that are eligible for nomination include “Just Getting Started”, “The Boys Are Back”, “Can I Have This Dance”, and “A Night To Remember”.
There are a total of 49 songs from different movies and HSM3 represents 23% of that list. They HAVE to walk away with at least one nomination!
The nominations will be announced on January 22, 2009 and you can catch the 81st Academy Awards show, hosted by Hugh Jackman, on February 22, 2009.
“High School Musical 3 Senior Year” will be released on DVD and Blu-ray February 17, 2009. There will be a 2-disc extended edition available, which includes these features:
