People’s "Most Sexiest Man Alive", Hugh Jackman, will host the "81st Academy Awards" on Sunday, February 22, 2009. This will be his first time center stage at an Oscar Show. He has presented an award once, but being the host is all new territory for this Australian hottie.
Producers Mark and Condon commented on the host selection saying, "Hugh Jackman is a consummate entertainer and an internationally renowned movie star. He also has style, elegance and a sense of occasion. Hugh is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year’s movies – and to have fun doing it.”
I am definitely looking forward to seeing Hugh Jackman host the Academy Awards. I think he’ll do great and that means I get to listen to his accent for, like, 3 hours!!

Alright. This is my very first post on ANYTHING that might classify me as a blogger. And I mean, VERY FIRST EVER. A couple weeks back I saw an interview on ‘The Daily Show’ with Arianna Huffington, and it slowly, very slowly (like a snail on horse tranquilizers), inspired me to look into ‘bloggable’ websites and provide my uninhibited, unrehearsed, response to whatever I saw. So here goes.
First off, I like Hugh Jackman. I thought the ‘X-men’ movies, for the most part, were righteous. I’m a total nerd for anything superhero. And I really enjoyed his performance in ‘The Prestige’, a good movie as far as I’m concerned. So…I’m excited for him as an Oscar host pick. He’s Australian, people! These people are notoriously cool! Look, Steve Erwin might have been a douche…but he was a cool guy! I would share a drink with a cool Aussie any day! Cate Blanchett, Russel Crowe (a Kiwi, but close enough!), Nicole Kidman, Mel Gibson, Heath Leger (may he rest in peace! Don’t even get me started on ‘The Dark Knight’!), and…to top it off…the man of the hour….Hugh Jackman. I’ll admit that I really don’t know much about this man’s career. I could jump on Wikipedia and copy and paste an entire faux-knowledge about the man, but that goes against the spirit of blogging. I will only say that I am totally cool with him for an Oscar host and that I am excited to see what he can do in that venue. I’ve liked him in everything that I’ve seen him in, and he comes across as a totally cool and capable dude. Bring it on Jackman! We’ll see if you can stack up to Stewart or DeGeneres! This blogger is betting you can.
