“I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” Underwhelms Box Office

Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls) is currently starring in I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, which is a comedy based loosely on the life of writer, Tucker Max.beer-in-hell-poster

The plot is actually based on Max’s book of the same name and tells the story of when the author went to a friend’s bachelor party and caused so much trouble that the marriage is almost called off.  He gets banned from the wedding but tries to beg his way back into his friend’s good graces.

The film opened in a select theaters on September 25, 2009 and did not do well at all.  It really underwhelmed at the box office and critics basically ripped it apart (Rotten Tomatoes gave it 24% and IMDb rates it a 4.6/10).

I think it also didn’t help that people protested the movie during the screenings since some accused Max of glorifying rape since the movie might be seen as promoting getting women drunk before engaging in sexual activity.

Either way, it’s too bad that this movie wasn’t more of a success for Matt.  Read Arieanna’s interview with Matt about the film here.

I didn’t love or hate Logan but I love, love, love Czuchry. I’m kinda indifferent to Tucker Max. I don’t find him funny but I don’t find him overly offensive either but the movie dosn’t look great.

Jeremy Matt is not Logan lol

I’m not really surprised by this, I didn’t think the film would do all that well. I like Matt, I hope this doesn’t come back to haunt him as he goes on to future projects. And Jeremy, wow, why so hostile??

I Bet the reason it failed was because of the person who was in it, Cause of the prick who played Logan, It Karma bitting his Prick ass back, for being a prick on the show, I hope his show fails also, Cause Matt aka Logan is a prick & a bad actor
