Today’s Idol Face Off has Clay Aiken squaring off against Scott Savol (both American Idol). They both sang “Everlasting Love” – which one do you “love?”

Why does Clay Aiken yell his songs? Most of us aren’t deaf.
Clay is Clay and few can out sing him. He’s so good and I love every darn song he sings.
I didn’t know about the other guy, poor guy. He shouldn’t be put against Clay. I mean… Come on. Clay kicks but. But he kicked the other guy’s but real hard in this face off.
Honestly, I was rooting for Scott while so many others were putting him down. However, when he started to sing “Everlasting Love”, I thought “bad idea” cos Clay sang it and he nailed it! After Scott sang, I felt his performance confirmed what I felt from the start.
I think the songs get longer as the season progresses and people are eliminated. Leaves more time for those left to sing their numbers.
I wonder why the first couple of seasons of Idol only allowed such a short amount of time for the songs, it hardly gives the contestant a chance to show what they’ve got.
No contest! Clay all the way.
Scott did not stay on the right key at any point in this song.
Clay is always on key. On the Money..
Clay Aiken of course!!!! Clay sang “Everlasting Love” like no other and the note he held at the end – WOW!!!!
Clay has a one of a kind voice. There’s just something about the way he sings and the sound of his voice. Can’t really explain it, but I love it! So its Clay for me.
Sorry, no disrespect to Scott because he does seem like really neat guy with a good voice, but this was no contest.
I have to agree with Simon’s comments on this one about Scott’s performance here.
Clay all the way on this one!
No contest here at all–Scott vs Clay….are you kidding. Clay’s beats the best of them, and of course poor lil’ Scott wouldn’t stand a chance.
My love for Clay singing this song and for him is everlasting.
I have never seen Scott live (sorry not a fan) but I have seen Clay 4 times and the man sings with passion and pure raw emotion! He literally takes my breath away with those big vocals and outstanding stage presence!!!!
Clay wins again. No one would even attempt to hold a note the way Clay does. He doesnt have to move at all.All he needs is a microphone and in some cases he doesn’t even need that to bring a crowd to their feet.
Clay’s version had zing and oomf for me. I felt like I was soaring along with him! Scott on the other hand, while he may be able to sing nicely really fell flat for me. I prefer not to be put to sleep by the music I listen to. Therefore Clay can give me the rush I like to hear from my music.
When Scott performed the song in his season, I jumped up at the end and yelled “Wow! This guy could win this thing.” Then maybe I shed one tear because I was happy for him.
When Clay performed in his season, I jumped up at the end and I believe I yelled “He nailed it!”
I guess I liked them both… and still do. It’s a pretty good song. I sampled Carl Carlton, and both Idols had better versions IMHO.
I’m going to have to agree with Wanda. In my opinion, Scott has the voice of an angel. Every time he sings, he touches my soul and sends chills up my spine. I haven’t been as avid for any Idol since him.
He is far from phony. He was very much a take me as I am, kind of guy. He never put on airs or pretended to be anyone other than who he is. It seems unfair to me for anyone to judge his character without knowing him.
Clay sang this song well, just differently than Scott. To each their own.
Clay all the way baby!
I’m sorry but you may as well just give up on any Clay comparisons. Not to say others might have sung well but…
Clay nailed his performances each and every week and this was before they had all the smoke and mirrors you could add to your songs so it wouldn’t be noticed you really didn’t SING that well.
If you missed season 2 catch Idol Rewind. The group performances start in January followed by top 12.
Oh, my poor Scott. That was just mean, pitting him against Clay. Kalan could stand his own pretty well, but Scott….not so much.
