Clay just knocks me out with his version of MTK. Does anyone know if he has sung the whole song sometime/somewhere? If he hasn’t I sure wish he would, and dressed like the “Sharp Dressed Man” like he was that night.
In my opinion Clay even out sings Bobby Darrin’s version, and I liked Bobby Darrin’s version. Not to forget how hawt he looked all dressed up. Drool….
Have never seen Brian but didn’t like his version to much. Had to much of an accent or something in there. Blakes version was FUN and I loved it and him, but once again, Clay kicks butt!
Clay killed on that song……if anyone is interested American Idol Rewind Season 2 has gotten started…Clay is doing all the narration and for some of you that have never seen that season you might wanna take a look and see why Clay just blew all the competition away and why he is having such an amazing career…….it truly was the defining moment for idol and still is to this day….Clay sings like no other and his charisma and charm are just downright incredible……for those who have never seen him in concert or bought an album do yourselves a favor….you won’t regret it ever!
I will give Blake and Brian credit, they both added their own spin on the song and did a nice job.
However, if there is any doubt in your mind about who deserves to win this contest? Just listen to Clay singing the last six words as Clay AND ONLY CLAY can sing them!
THAT my friend is POWER, STRENGTH, and ONE AWESOME VOICE that CAN”T be matched!
Both other young men have talent not to be denied, BUT….
Clay WINS AGAIN.. Hands down!

This has been a most interesting discussion and yes it has been mostly about Clay. I have watched all the original videos of AI2 and have watched them several times. I have watched every season of American Idol. I just want to say never in all the seasons of the show did I ever just “stop and drop” except when I heard Clay’s voice. I remember walking into the living room and standing there hearing that “voice” and saying “OMG I can’t believe this kid”!
There have been many interesting and talented young people on this show..but never, never has anyone stopped me in my tracks like Clay.
Say what ever you want..you will never convince me that he is not the “defining moment” in that show! Some have come before and others after but he still and always be the moment when people said “WOW”! There is talent out there, that is undiscovered and this kid is it!”
And what is most amazing about him is that he hs not only developed his talent but has used his celebrity to do some amazing strides to help people in need and that is what a True American Idol is all about! Not just a voice but a giver in every since of the word! Well done Clay!

I loved Bobby Darrin’s version of MTK until Clay walked on stage and blew me over with his incredible voice and the “Sharp Dressed Man” look.
tss-Thanks for the info on Elvis winning only one grammy. Makes me feel a little better. According to Clive Davis, they shipped out 2 million “Measure of a Man” the first week and Clay was never nominated for squat. Go figure.
Aside from the fact that I think Clay’s performance was the best, has anyone noticed that Blake got the LYRICS wrong?

Anyone who has ever heard Bobby Darin sing this knows that the words are “drooping on down.” That’s how the original artist sang/recorded/performed it.
It may be tiny, but it’s a big difference. To say a cement bag DROPS makes it sound like the cement itself is engaged in this activity.
A cement bag DROOPS when it is filled with weight (like a body, etc.).
LYRICS, people!! They need to GET THE LYRICS RIGHT!!
Clay is such a class act. He makes it seem so easy. WoW!
This one was an easy one for me – Clay 100% all the way. Blake was awful, but I think it was also a bad song choice for him. Brian was nice but slightly boring. Clay’s voice just shined through strong and clear…………. and that last note *Sigh*
Clay all the way. His voice and his vocal range are excellent and his performance of MTK was absolutely brilliant. Blake and Brian’s versions and vocals didn’t come close to Clay’s.
Editha-Clay really did win AI2-he has proven it thousands of times since that fateful night in May, 2003. One phone line and two hours for millions and millions of votes to try to get through? The very next year they added more phone lines for each finalist and 4 hours of voting; tells us something, huh??? I still don’t understand why the producers, who knew very well Clay was the clear winner, didn’t give him the win. 2 of them even admitted Clay received 80 percent of the vote EVERY SINGLE WEEK he was on! I don’t doubt that at all. Ruben was a good singer; but a poor stage presence and basically a one-note Johnny. He never changed the way he performed. Clay had much more signage and fans in that studio audience. He has appeared on tv and in the media more than all the other contestants from all 6 years combined. Shows the naysayers who the real Idol is!!!! Carrie and Kelly may have received more ‘awards’-but, remember, Elvis received only ONE Grammy in his entire career-for a Gospel album-and he was the most popular performer in the world for many, many years. Clay will receive all the respect he well deserves very soon!!
It’s unfair to the other two, Brian and Blake to compare with the amazing vocal and richness of Clay Aiken’s voice. He’s is the best, quality and power wise, he’s way way ahead of the two. More power to yoo Clay. I love your voice so much, I still don’t believe that you lost to Rueben, although he’s you’re friend, I honestly think that season was totally ridged. Anyway, you are so successful now and the last laugh is always the best or something like that. Well, who’s laughing all the way to the bank now??? Well done honey!!
Put on suit, walk on stage, grab a mic and open mouth and just sing, wow! Clay wins hands down. What a voice. Shortest version of the song and still sells it so much better than the other two. Clays voice and charisma win it every time. He’s just so good.
oh gosh… i tried REALLY hard to favour Brian b/c he’s a fellow Canadian. But i just couldnt do it.
i dont get what was good vocally about his performance. and i dont get why he’s in the top 2…

For some reason I the third video wouldn’t show up on my computer. So…. I only watched Clay and Blake. It was enough for me to watch. Blake was kind of boring IMO, but Clay was AMAZING!
I mean, I already knew that, but this just proves there’s no comparison between the two. Clay was simply the best IMO, even without all the extra stuff that Blake had. His voice and that microphone were all that he needed to win me over. It seemed like Blake’s video went on forever.
So there ya go…

I happen to think Clay Aiken not only sang the schizzznit outta the song , but HE dressed appropriately for the song too .
Brian did well on song too , but not as great as Clay !
Blake however, was just all wrong for this song , both in voice & what he wore!
What I find so interesting about this poll is that while Blake and Brian have the clothes, the look, the band and have all these things going on in their performances, Clay Aiken stands there in front of a microphone with just his voice and still manages to blow them out of their water. He has an amazing presence and star quality that will carry him a long way.
