Idol Face Off - "Unchained Melody"

American Idol season 2 runner-up, Clay Aiken, season five 6th place finisher, Kellie Pickler and Australian Idol 2006’s winner, Damien Leith all sang “Unchained Melody.” Who sang it best?

Clay Aiken

Kellie Pickler

Damien Leith

Due to popular demand, the poll has been reinstated. Please be nice to each other (and me) this time. Tomorrow’s Clay poll against Justin Guarini will go on as originally planned.

To ‘anonymous’ regarding your comment that Clay sings this song ‘way too fast’; uh…methinks Clay did NOT write the arrangement and sang it the way it was given to him to sing. You can NOT deny Clay’s vocals on this song is absolutely incredible and far surpasses those on this poll. America knew Clay was ‘THE IDOL’ and the best vocalist/performer. Clay didn’t ‘need’ this song to WIN AI2- he won it from the first day of competition and was awarded with 80 percent of the vote every single week; including the final vote (which just may have been more than 80 percent if he had 2-3 phone lines and 4 hours of voting, as all other finalists were given starting in Season 3,
to receive every single vote of his that was trying to come in.)

Oh Good Lord. It’s anonymous opinion that Clay sings it too fast. Personally I love his version but everybody’s entitled to their opinion. Stop trying so hard to defend Clay. You’re part of the problem.

OMG cant believe this is still going on, I last posted here in Oct. LOL. Faith, I agree Clay does not need defending, but it really is amusing how people have opinions on what they do NOT know. KartoffMuter is of course right, and so is Jean. Obviously anonymous does not know that Clay is singing to a back up tape. Would have sounded really funny if he had sang it slower. So saying Clay is singing too fast, is pointless and not worth commenting on.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just because you have a different view than someone else doesn’t make your opinion any more right than theirs. You like Clay’s singing, other people don’t.

lil I agree with you, that not everyone will like Clays singing, and that they are entitled to. I do not however agree everyone is entitled to their opinion. Lots of people have opinions on lots of things, they know nothing about. For example, if you are sick you go to a doctor, not your next door neighbor for an opinion, not everyones opinion is right. In this instance people have a right to not like a singer, but that does not make them right. Look at all those bad singers on Idol, they all of the opinion that they can sing, are they right?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and just because you mightn’t like their opinion, doesn’t make their opinion wrong or your opinion right. If I don’t like a singer’s voice, then I’m entitled to say so and if you happen to like that singer’s voice, then you’re entitled to say so. It cuts both ways, and not everyone is going to agree all of the time.

There are some good Idol singers from time to time and sadly some of these good Idol singers are overlooked while other not so good Idol singers do well although I cannot fathom why.
