I don’t think either of the versions are as good as the original.
Guy all the way!!
Guy’s version at the Australian Tennis Open Mens Final this year was excellent and wowed the crowd.
I’ll admit he’s a pretty good singer but I sure don’t like him singing this song. He ruins the original tune.
I do think Guy is a cut above all others .what have 3 awards got to do with comparing(voices) siniging.
Guy is the best and will always be the best. You have to admit it.
guy sebastian. i’m north american, and i think guy sebastian does it better vocally hands down.
No contest for me – Guy all the way.
His version is new, modern and groovy
Chris’s version is just the standard version, with no originality or personality.
You can see why Guy won the show if that’s one of his early performances in the show!
The judges verdict at world Idol was unanomous in 2003 that Guy was brilliant singing this song. (and the judges were all pretty scathing of the other artists back then). I guess it impressed Chris enough too to give the song a go as well a couple of years later, only his own style. I liked his version, but Guy wins hands down in my opinion. Oh btw I am from Australia and havent heard much about Chris Daughtry down this way either. We didnt get that series of American idol here that year, pity ’cause he sounds good.
Guy. Even way back then he added a special uniqueness to all the songs he sang. He has developed into an amazing singer. And just when you think its not possible…he gets even better.
Chris Daughtry. I’ve honestly never heard of the other guy. Chris just won 3 big awards and has already passed several other idols.
Go Chris.
Chris did a fab. job, but for me Guy wins hands down. Always a musician, with incredible arrangements. I love the original WAWW, and I love Guy’s arrangement and song and now 5 years down he is a superb artist (Mark Holden, one of the judges kept saying what a sublime voice he had, Marcia said he had “the most beautiful musical instrument I’ve ever heard” post “Everything I Do”
OMG. Hard to believe it’s almost 5 years ago. Guy was so young – early 2003 – and that hair! A hard one. Chris has time to develop the song. Guy’s version was done when they had, what 30 seconds? If it was Guy singing that song in 2007-8 (or even by World Idol time) I’d say Guy by a mile. Chris was my favorite of his year and Guy was my favorite of his year. Chris’ version is very smooth, really well done. Guy is very new at that stage, but his uniqueness is already showing.
I feel so good listening to Guy’s version. . . it’s more joyful. . . makes you feel that world is really wonderful after all.
No contest. Guy is brilliant at interpreting songs. He puts his own spin on songs, which always makes them special without disresprecting the originals. One reason Steve Cropper and the Mg’s have taken this Aussie on board to re do some of the original soul classics of Memphis, and are touring with him downunder next year as his backing band.
Guy: Incredible voice. Incredibly hot.
guy sebastian!!!!!!!!!!!
First, I appreciate that Guy sang a different version of that song. However, it did nothing to serve the song, and was just plain… not good. Guy sang well, but other than that, I really didn’t like this.
Chris version was simple, and it WORKED for that song. His voice is beautiful on this, with just a tiny hint of growl, to remind us of who he is. This was hands down the better of the two performances.
I just love Chris Daughtry’s voice and I loved the simplicity of his performance.
Chris Daughtry for sure. The other guy lost the whole melody, I didn’t know what he was even singing by the end.
no fight! guy’s version was so original, chris’ was straighhtt and boring.
