Even though Inglourious Basterds is now in its third week, it’s still doing extremely well at the box office. Over the long weekend it took in over $15 million, landing in second place (after Final Destinations, another movie I’d like to see).

In total it’s made $95,226,000 which is excellent since they’ve now more than cleared the $70 million budget the movie had!
I wish I could remember where I read this so I could source it properly; I don’t even remember if it was online or in our local newspaper. Anyway, in the article it said that Quentin Tarantino could thank Brad Pitt for this film being his record-breaking opening. They said that Brad was the one who brought in all the women to the theater who might not normally see a Tarantino film.
I’ve mentioned it before but I’m a HUGE Quentin Tarantino fan so I’d be interested in Inglourious Basterds anyway, but I have to admit that the Brad Pitt Factor raises it up even higher for me!
I haven’t been able to see the movie yet because I’ve been too busy on vacation, but I hope to see it after I get back home. Who else still hasn’t seen it but plans to do so soon?

I saw it this weekend – Brad Pitt was AMAZING!! Such a great movie.
Hi Sherry: I saw IB over the weekend, and it is fabulous! IMHO, it’s the best movie Tarantino’s made since “Pulp Fiction.” Brad was great in it; his character is quite distinct and very funny. It is the ultimate revenge-on-the-Nazis flick and well worth seeing. I may see it twice, because my husband wants to see it as well.
Fantastic news! I’ve been too busy to see it, but I hope to soon. The weekend goes by too fast for me. My niece & nephew went to see IB with their friends and they really enjoyed it, especially my nephew. But, he felt there wasn’t enough of the Basterds.
Sharon & Sonja – Everyone I know who saw Changeling thought it was a great movie. They were totally shocked to learn it was based on a true story. The recent news coverage of the Jaycee Dugard kidnapping case made me think of the movie and Christine Collins determination to find her son.
I finally saw IB this past Friday…..and wow….this movie really delivers! I’m a big fan of QT and this was just an incredible movie. I must say this is the best writing QT has ever done, even more so than Pulp Fiction. This movie had immaculate cohesion and fluid storyline. Hats off to the entire cast…..because let me tell you, once you see it, you’ll truly understand how valuable every character component really is. And more surprisingly, I didn’t feel that this was overly graphic (we all know how carried away QT can get, and I love him for that)….everything about this movie was smooth.
Yes sonja:
And it was based on a True story. Someone found the records when they were destroyin them in L.A. and gave them to the writer.
by the way: I rented “Changeling” last weekend and was really shocked. I didn’t know it would be that horrible (I mean of course the plot, not the film itself)…
I’ve seen it twice now! I really hope that you have an “original version” in North America where the French, German and Italian dialogues are not translated – but subtiteled. This really makes the movie that great!
(Though it might be easier for us Europeans who are quite familiar with all of the languages)
Dana/Anastasja – I highly recomment this movie! I just saw it last Friday (September 4) when it had its Finnish premiere and to my great surprise it went straight into #1 position after just one weekend. I was so happy. I don´t normally like films which include a lot of violence or aren´t a big fan of Quentin Tarantino but this movie really made a great impact on me. It didn´t have so much violence as QT´s other movies and you kind of waited for that violence to start because all the violent scenes are in the latter half of the movie. I´m most definitely gonna watch it again and when it comes out on DVD I´m gonna buy it to myself so that I can watch it over and over again. Brad is really funny as Ltn. Aldo Raine. He kind of reminds me of his character Chad in Coen brothers´ Burn After Reading. Both guys are really funny.
I’ve seen it already 3 times and it’s great! I would have gone to see it anyway, Brad wasn’t the reason, Quentin was. But Brad was excellent! Also, I have to mention Christoph Waltz’s great perfomance, superb acting from him too. Go to see this movie!
I just saw it last night. I may not have gone if it weren’t for Brad, I might have seen it later or rented it when I heard how good it was. It was Fun even the violence had the edge taken off.
It was hard to believe it was 2 and 1/2 hours long. You came away wanting more and thinking about things that I won’t mention as People still HAVE to see it.
I also had introduced my friend to The Changling, and she took it home and watched it again and then had her parents watch. They couldn’t believe that had not been up for Best Picture.
I haven’t seen it yet. I’m waiting for polish release (september 11th). I’m a big fan of Tarantino – Brad and Quentin in one project – hell yeah! :)
go see it Sherry and Lou. it’s a great and very funny movie!!!!
The movie has also earned over $87 million overseas, so it’s a very big hit for Brad and QT!!!
I haven’t seen it yet. I will wait for it to get to Netflix. I dislike going to the movies because of the crowds.
