Great interview with Natalia Tena, who plays Nymphadora Tonks:
In conversation, British actress Natalia Tena magically switches between perfect English and Spanish.
The 22-year-old actress brings the equally free-spirited and laid-back Nymphadora Tonks — a beloved character of the Harry Potter series — to cinematic life. She makes her debut as Tonks in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” at theaters now.
Tena, whose parents are from Spain and whose first language is Spanish, talked about her “Harry Potter” experience:
Q: Did you read the Harry Potter books before you won the role of Tonks?
A: I did not know anything about Harry Potter. Nothing.
Q: Was it hard to portray a character beloved by millions of people who have already created an image of Tonks in their mind? Did you worry about fulfilling their expectations?
A: I did at the beginning … I didn’t like some of the things they did at the beginning, to be honest. I really wish she had had pink hair like in the book. They didn’t want to do that because pink would be associated with (Dolores) Umbridge, who is evil. They really didn’t take many risks.
At the beginning I really looked like a punk … and they kind of toned (it) down a bit. And I wasn’t happy with that because in my mind I was thinking “You know what, that’s not what kids are going to expect.”
Q: While Tonks at first seems like a rebellious and carefree witch, readers learn she is very smart and talented. Do you identify with her?
A: Oh yeah, absolutely, mate. People always think I’m just kind of silly and stupid, a bit wild and uncontrollable but when it comes down to it, I can focus and be like her.
Q: If you had Tonks’ powers, what appearance would you use?
A: I’d want to be a huge, huge eagle — a powerful eagle. That would be wicked.
Q: Which of the “Harry Potter” books is your favorite?
A: I loved the third one. The third one and the sixth one I really liked. I thought they were really good books.
Q: Do you have any predictions on what’s in store for Tonks in the last book?
A: I’ve been thinking about that. I reckon she’ll either die really quickly or she’ll kill Bellatrix (Lestrange) at some point. Or she’ll kill one of the big baddies at the end somehow. I really hope Harry dies, though, and I want Neville (Longbottom) to be the one that was the chosen one all along.

I think you were one of the most interesting characters in the books/movie. And i equally agree that if Harry died and Neville would turn out to be the chosen one, that would be hilarious. ( I wish the would of ended the book that way)

I liked how tonks appeared, but i do wish she had bubblegum pink hair, like they said in the book. I also imagined it shorter, but over all, they did a really good job on creating Tonks.
i really like her she isreally funny and very talented and thou she hasnt had a big of an apperence but im hoping dat im her 1st biggest fan !! she rocks and i saw her trailing tonks she was absloutly amazing and fun i thing she did a great job! :

I think she is perfect for Tonks as well. I cant wait to see her and David romancing together, if you dont recall he plays Lupin, it so romantic how they end up married with little teddy, but sad how it ends. I just have this thing though where I want to see couple together- its the same with Jason and Helen ( Lucius and Narcissa) I cant wait to see them together either.
A great actress for a great character. Pity JKR killed her and Remy off in the books but hey she’s da boss lady not me.

When I read the 3rd book I imediatly picked up a new fav charactor, Remus Lupin. Then when I got to book 5 I again found another fav charactor, Nymphadora Tonks. I about went drop dead from shock and then once I came back I was so excited!
Back to the point. She’s crazy to think that Neville would end up as the chosen one, and she pretty much jinxed herself when she said she would kill Bellatrix, cause look where it got her…
DEAD!!!!!!!!!!! she was killed by Bellatrix acording to every website that I’ve been on. It makes since that Bellatrix killed her cause apparently she was trying really hard to do Tonks in durring the 7th book stating, “she tried very hard to kill me, she wants me almost as much she wants Harry, Remus.”
