The nominations for the 2009 Emmy Awards were announced this week. In light of that, Entertainment Weekly put together their list of the top 25 Emmy snubs over the years. America’s Next Top Model made the list at #17.
EW writes:
The supermodel’s modeling competition may not score the ratings of some other reality juggernauts, but when it comes to entertainment value, the show never disappoints (see: every cycle’s makeover episode). And unlike some other reality shows, ANTM actually does produce some success stories (e.g. Eva Pigford, Danielle Evans, Adrianne Curry…kinda). C’mon Emmy, you know that ANTM deserves to still be in the running to become Best. Reality. Competition. Show.
I must say, as far downhill as ANTM has gone in the past few years, I have to agree. It truly paved the way for the new kind of fashion/design female-oriented reality shows and Tyra led the way in a new wave of multimedia moguls. The early cycles of America’s Next Top Model are reality television classics. It’s too bad the Academy took notice of reality television a bit too late.
Topping the list of Emmy snubs were Courteney Cox on Friends (#10), Bob Newhart on The Bob Newhart Show (#9), Heather Locklear on Melrose Place (#8), Norman Fell on Three’s Company, Michael Landon (#7), The Honesymooners (#6), Lauren Graham on Gilmore girls (#4), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (#3), Andy Griffith on The Andy Griffith Show (#2) and Rosanne (#1).
You can see the complete list here. What Emmy snub do you think was the biggest snub of all?
