Is Ariel a Murderous Stripper?

20090803_ryn_o05_060.jpgSure, it starts out innocently enough: A haircut; one that makes her look her actual age, instead of perpetually 13. Then the next thing you know, she’s covered in blood with a cold stare and a large weapon in her hands.

Kids– they grow up so fast.

So of course Ariel isn’t actually a murderous stripper this season, but in the second episode of the season, she may be possessed by one. Daemon’s TV has the first picture from 6×02 titled, “Who’s That Girl,” in which Allison believes that Ariel is possessed by a murdered stripper who is now trying to exact revenge against her killer.

Sofia Vassilieva has a bit of a higher profile now, since starring with Cameron Diaz in My Sister’s Keeper this summer, so I’d bet the writers are going to give her a little more to do this season. As much as I love what Ariel brings to the show in terms of the DuBois family dynamic, it’ll be fun to see a darker side to her.

What do you think? Do you like scary Ariel, or do you prefer her quiet and sweet?

I always liked Sofia V. She was adorable in ” Eloise at the Plaza”. She has always been great on Medium, but I hope they don’t focus too much on her in season six. I don’t like to watch the same types of episodes over and over again. A lot of the shows have focused on Ariel already. I would like to see something fresh for next season.

I’m not clicking on the picture again! I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing episode. Joe can barely handle Allison being possessed so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles this!

I’m sure we’ll get more Ariel character development this season! Was she a junior last year? I always get mixed up by school years!

I got the impression Ariel was cleaning whilst covered in blood. Also, I wonder how many people Devalos knows that have come to harm. Quite a few by now!

  3. Gina says:

To Liven things up I would like to see Ariel bad. Not too bad. She is a teenager, maybe give her a boyfriend that Allison and Joe don’t approve of. Just to spice things up a little .
I wish one of the girls could be normal like Joe. Why do they all have to be psychic?
I agree I would like some fresh storylines for season six. Not so much focus on just one character like they did with Ariel last season.

  4. THE GHOST says:

Would love to watch Ariel’s (Sofia Vassilieva) episodes of the last season.
    What are they?

  5. Betty says:

I agree they should spread the wealth around and not focus too much on any one character or situation (Joe’s job). I kinda miss the ghosts, too that used to visit Allison. Too many possessions becomes old real fast.

The critics didn’t like My Sister’s Keeper very much, but it did well at the box office – some mistakenly say due to Cameron Diaz, but I think it was the Medium fans who went to watch Sofia.

As an actress, I’m sure Sofia would like to have some meatier stuff to sink her teeth into. Again, not too much of any one thing.

  6. Kelly says:

I agree with Betty. They should spread the wealth . Not too much of any one thing (Joes job). Sofia is a great actress and a pleasure to watch but I hope they don’t go overboard with her in season six because of ” My Sisters Keeper”.

  7. Linda says:

I don’t know about having Ariel get a boyfriend Joe and Allison don’t approve of. That happens all the time in shows with teenage kids. I always kind of liked that this show didn’t start with with a teen, nor did they have Joe and Al have another kid during the course of the series. So many shows turn to it and I find myself cringing quite often.

I would, however, like to see Ariel’s interest in a boy not just be a one episode thing as seemed to be the case last season with the ‘allergies’ and the guy who used Ariel to cheat on his maths exam.

I do see traits of Joe in both Ariel and Bridgette, Ariel with her maths result last year, and how Bridgette reacts to things, she is most like Joe in my personal opinion. I would like if they kept Marie’s abilities as they manifest currently.

I went to My Sister’s Keeper because I’ve read the book and for Sofia, certainly not because of Cameron Diaz.

Sofia centric episodes from last season include the three-parter: How To Make a Killing in Business (or something like that…) and the one that aired second out of order: Things To Do When You’re Dead. The ninth and tenth episodes too have a fair bit of Sofia.

I, too, agree with Betty. Spread the wealth. Not too much focus on any one character or situation(especially Joes work issues).

I appreciate that the Dubois family is played as an average American family so I also think it would be nice if one of the girls could just be normal like their dad.

To answer Kona’s question-I like Sofia as a good girl.

  9. lina says:

Ariel has always been my fav. caracther so I’m really looking forward too see how they r writing this season. And I would LOVE too see a little darker side.

  10. Becky says:

I think there was enough focus on Ariel last season. I think about the same this year would be good. Also I would be against her having a “dark” side, perhaps a little less little girl stuff and more teenager type segments. She has her drivers license, perhaps now a boyfriend.

  11. Shannondee says:

I love Ariel as she is (not as someone else) but it does show what a good actress Sofia is.

However I HATE her hair. HATE it. Hope they let her grow it back. The page boy cut is terrible. I know why it was cut, but I still don’t like it, and I actually don’t think it makes her look older. I think it makes her look younger and like a goody goody preppy rich girl. She now looks an awful lot like the girl in The Nanny, Maggie, except Maggie’s hair was more feminine.

However, I have to argue that Ariel is not 100% sweet. She is actually quite mean and antagonistic to Bridgette. Of course Bridge is very annoying (although she doesn’t mean to be), but Ariel plays the perfect teasing big sister who takes pleasure in annoying her little sister. It is very realistic.

I do hope they focus on all three of the girls more this season. Maybe a little more on Bridgette might be nice because she really has a different look and personality than anyone else on the show and it could really be developed into something more than just “bratty/annoying”.
