Michael Ausiello at TV Guide is reporting that a male character on Gossip Girl will be outed on the “re-premiere” episode on April 21.
Michael offers clues, including:
• The revelation significantly impacts the lives of at least three people.
• The aftershocks will be felt on both sides of the East River.
• Some viewers will be surprised by the twist, others not so much.
• In the Gossip Girl novels, Dan was known to be a bit of a switch hitter — which isn’t so much a clue as it is a fact. A misleading fact? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
We’ve discussed this before on Gossip Girl Report. I don’t think that the producers will out Dan as a gay character. He’s far too much of a heart throb and an established love interest for Serena.
Here are my thoughts:
1, Erik. This is my top contender. I think we’ll all find out that part of Erik’s insecurity stems from being able to come out to his family.
2, Nate. I don’t know that the producers would really do this but it would make for an interesting twist for Nate to admit that he couldn’t commit to Blair because of his sexual preference.
3, Chuck. No way. The producers would never make the “bad boy” a gay character.
4, Dan. Probably gay in the books. I stand by the idea that the producers won’t go that route – even Penn Badgley agrees.

Did anyone ever think it could be an adult character? Like rufus or bart? Both of those would effect 3 characters.
I would hate if nate was gay. I don’t think i could even watch the show anymore.
It is insinuated that Chuck has tendencies in the books. I mean, the boy does dress well.
Chuck is pretty much as gay as possible in the books. If the producer want to at least stay by the book (which they probably won’t) it will be Chuck or Dan.
I personally don’t think it will be any of the three male leads. I think that mainstream TV is too skittish for that – esp on a fledgling show. I also think the Chuck/Blair/Nate storyline is too popular and that would pretty much end it, no?
I still believe it will be a secondary character like Erik. Or my new wild card? Nate’s father.
In the books, Chuck is flaming by the end and dan has had an attempt at being gay that didnt end well. He was too in love with Vanessa for his relationship with a man to get anywhere. and obviously nate is as far from gay as they get. But the show never has stuck to the books so you never know what could happen. though any of the three main guys seems very very unlikely. im liking erik or nate’s dad. they would both give a good twist and affect three people. but erik seems to give the gay vibe a little, especially when he doesn’t pursue jenny even after their
little “moment”.
But we won’t know till we see it!
I say it’s eric… it’s the most boring route 2 go though…

I hope it’s not Eric. For one, that would be too boring, because Serena would be okay with it and his mom wouldn’t be THAT upset. I mean, she would be disappointed, but I doubt she’d throw a fit or anything. And nobody’s in love with him, either. It’d effect people, but not all that significantly.
They wouldn’t make Nate gay. Chace Crawford is the cutest guy in the show; the producers wouldn’t throw that away.
Dan. Possibly. Probably not. He’s too in love with Serena.
Chuck. That’d be very interesting indeed. Hoping this is right.
Nate’s dad. This would be best, IMO – Eric makes the little tweenyboppers melt (the sixth and seventh graders in my school think he’s the cutest thing ever), Nate’s just plain hot, Chuck is the bad boy, and bad boys hardly ever turn out to be gay, Dan’s too in love with Serena, and this would still provide a sufficient scandal. I mean, the whole thing with Luke’s dad in The OC created enough of a scandal, so this should be okay, too. And the two shows even have the same producer, and this twist would be rather similar, which makes it even more probable.
Or maybe Chuck’s dad, if not Nate’s. But I think Nate’s dad would be better. Chuck’s dad loves women too much. And Rufus is just so…straight. (Plus, my mom and my friend’s mom both watch the show just cuz they think he’s good looking. I bet there are moms all around the world like mine and my friend’s.)

I seriously hope that it’s Chuck. My, would that be interesting. :] Eric would be FAR too boring.
You see, I’m a writer. I enjoy drama. As “cute” as the whole Nate/Blair/Chuck thing is, if it went on much longer, I would rip my hair out. :/ I honestly don’t like it when things are perfect until a show is actually ending. Just because Chuck is “hot” doesn’t mean he won’t be hot making out with another guy. Actually… That makes it sound all the more fun to me.. XD
Do I actually think the CW has the balls to do it. Of course not!
Please…Please…Please! Not Chuck anybody but Chuck. It would break my heart.
i really hope that dan humphrey will not be gay in the tv series ., he’s way to hot to be gay ..

As much as it pains me to say it, I’m about 99% sure it’s Dan.
Think- it would GREATLY affect the lives of 3 people:
Serena- the girlfriend who would be devestated
Jenny- the sister that’s slowly rising the social ladder (this could possibly affect that BIG time)
Vanessa- the one that loves him and would be crushed, yet possibly supportive at the same time
With Eric, since Jenny’s is supposedly having a new love interest on the show when it airs tonight (I can’t wait xD), it wouldn’t affect her. The only people his coming out of the closet would affect would be-
Serena
Lily
And even then, Serena would be su[portive of it, and Lily, though disappointed, wouldn’t be affected all that much by it.
That makes me mad, if it is Dan. I don’t want him to be gay!
-sighs- Oh well. It’s better than having Chuck gay. As long as Chuck’s not gay, I’m good.
Though I did kinda think it was Nate at one time. It would affect:
Blair, who wants him back more than likely
Serena, who still loves him and is just hiding her feelings
Jenny, who has a crush on him, it’s pretty much obvious.
