Is there an EIGHTH Harry Potter book coming our way?

jk-rowling.pngI about popped a gasket when I read this story; although it could be a wait of TEN YEARS (I know, I know, keep breathing), it would be well worth the wait, don’t you think?

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has strongly hinted for the first time that she could write an eighth book in the series.

Rowling, 42, admits she has ‘weak moments’ when she feels she will pen another novel about the boy wizard.

Keep reading for more about a possible eighth Harry Potter book!

However, if an eighth novel were to be written, Rowling concedes it is unlikely that Harry would be the central character.

She finished the seventh book in the series – Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – last January.

At the time she thought she was ending a 17-year association with the boy wizard.

But in an interview with Time magazine, which put Rowling at No 3 in its Person Of The Year list, she said: “There have been times since finishing, weak moments, when I’ve said ‘Yeah, all right’ to the eighth novel. “If – and it’s a big if – I ever write an eighth book, I doubt that Harry would be the central character. I feel I’ve already told his story.

“But these are big ifs. Let’s give it ten years.”

In the meantime, Rowling is working on two writing projects – an adult novel and a “political fairy tale” – and is involved in charity work.

So! What do you think: good idea, bad idea? What do you think her story would be about if Harry was not the central character? I would love to see how Ron and Hermione turned out, or perhaps a novel about the original Order of the Phoenix and all their adventures….maybe a History of Hogwarts….the possibilities are endless, really!

Reading through all the everyone else has commented has shown me that many of the things I spotted and speculated are also out there in the realm and possibly felt by Mss Rowlings.

First off the Hallows did not feel like it completed the series or even current events. She probably had a great deal of other things she wanted to put in to it, but time and circumstances prevented further development.

    Such as:
First. Ginny siting downstairs. Ginny has known since before the wedding scene that Harry was on a course that would probably lead to his death. for someone deeply in love with him this would be terrifying and she apparently has recruited and worked with the rest of the DA to help in the fight to hopefully save him. When she realizes that he has finally extricated himself from everyone she is going to be looking for him.

Second. The counsel and everyone else is going to be wondering about Lucius and family, and a major confrontation would probably ensue. Harry having known how he and the rest of the family had been forced too do most of what they did by blackmail by Riddle. Harry had been in Voldemorts mind when he did it. would suspect that harry would come to Lucius’s aid to keep him from going back to Azkaban and to get home. they are stuck with no way home without a wand.

Next are the Wands and what Harry might be able to do to help fix various problems using the memory in the various wands that were used to cause so much damage. Such as The Elder, Voldemorts Phoenix, Lucius’s wand, Bellatrix’s that Hermione has, Draco’s that Harry has. What I’m getting at is that Longbottom’s parents might be cured and the history of what had happened might be pieced together.

Harry would also be the new true owner of Voldemort’s Phoenix wand.

OK, so all of this goes beyond the initial moment, but maybe you see where I’m going with this.

The story has some holes left in it that have to be filled.

In my opinion the next book she be from the point of view of Ginny, or as Auntie Muriel revealed “Ginevra” her real name.

So the next book should be from Ginevra’s point of view, starting from a overview of where she enters the tale too the start of what happens after Voldemort dies.

the next books should be about Jaes, Surius, Lupin, and wormtail when they were at school. I agree with jkr that harry tail is done and we cannot get anymore info out of it. If not, then i should be avout Harrys children at school, however, i still belive that writing about harry’s parets will be better because it can give us answers about some unanserd question in the allready existing books….

  3. neviele longbottom says:

next book should be about dombledores life with gridlewald

  8. why do u want to know my name? says:

I think that she should make a whole new series about one of harry’s kids. in the epilogue lupin, harry, ron, etc… all had kids. she should make a series about them. its probably not gonna happen, but we can always hope :S

  9. sherlyy says:

yeah i would like the eight book to be about one of harry potter’s kids..maybe something happened that one of his kids if not all are in danger

  10. Rosie says:

I think there should be a next book, but no-one pressure J.K Rowling. And it should be about the next generation from Harry’s year, like Harry and Ginny’s children James, Lily and Albus, Ron and Hermione’s children Hugo and Rose and so on.
    - I would lovee to get a part of one of the children in the movie, if there is one!!!

  11. A Harry Potter Fan says:

I love all Harry Potter books. I, personally, think that there should be an 8th book. Maybe about Harry and Ginny’s kids and Ron and Hermione’s kids. I guess that would be really cool. Maybe they would be in danger or something, I don’t know!!! But if there is going to be an 8th book, I will definately read it!!!

  12. Chris says:

To the bloke who said about voldermorts wand becoming Harry that would never happened as the wands choose the wizard hence why a advance wizard may use some else wand but is still more powerful with thier own.
The only reason Harry ended up with the twin wand of voldermorts was because the powerlful magic inside of Harry that voldermort left when he turned Harry into a horcrux which left a faint trace of voldy inside Harry which also increased his magic abilities and all.
I dunno about anyone else but as soon as the idea of horcrux came about I clicked on about Harry be one with halve an hour of finding out about them because it would explain so many charastics of Harry e.g almost put in slytherin and able to speak parsel tongue easy access to voldys mind!!!! But a eight book would be rather good happy new year everyone!!!!

  13. Golden Snitch says:

I think JK should make the eighth book based on what harry learned.Like how lupin was amaigi or something or just the life of lily and james potter and how they met and things like that. But I Think that as many harry potter books JKR has written they were THE BEST . They made me thinking of the wizarding world a lot.the concept that JK thought of is like no other.I salute Jk for writting such a phenomenal series.

  14. guest says:

i think it would be great for an 8th harry potter book to come out. I think it should be about their children lily james and albus potter and rose and hugho weasley! It would be good if one of them gets put into slytherin house and they find a way to change and become a true gryffindor. But its dangerous !!

  15. me says:

there should definitly b an 8 book!!!!!!!!!!

  16. dragonfly says:

wouldn’t it be cool to see the story from Draco’s perspective? I’ve never liked him, but i feel he evolved a lot after what had happended. and i’d love to hear about luna!

  17. harry potter fan says:

why JKR don’t write a lot of harry potter books i will cry if she don’t write :’(

  18. someone says:

I think there should be a book about the past of the world of hp. I would also like to read what happened salaza slytherin.

  19. dfyeyu says:

IF THERE IS NOT AN OTHER HARRY POTTER BOOK OR ONE ASSOCIATED WITH HARRY I MIGHT GO ON A KILLIN RAMPAGE

  20. Saph says:

Frankly I do not see a book about Harry’s children. Though it would be an interesting tangent to go explore I think it would be a lot more difficult to come up with an interesting plot. Voldemort is not causing terror and trouble and even if the remaining death-eaters were causing havoc it probably wouldn’t affect Potters kids.

What I wouldn’t mind seeing is a book or possibly two about the marauders. I adore Sirius and Lupin, as well as james And the relationship between Lilly and Lupin intrigues me. Possibly around the time they become anamagi and a little bit about their adventures in the order. And someone was saying there wouldn’t be enough conflict, well their school years were around the time Voldemort was rising to power. So amongst the regular school drama I do think there would be enough action.

Or as another idea perhaps explore the Lupin and Tonks relationship a little more. For it seemed at the beginning of the sixth book that it was a little out of the blue. I’d love to explore that dynamic some more. And that idea of following Ginny’s, or perhaps even Neville’s, adventures at school during the seventh book would be interesting as well.

  21. Saph says:

    Oops
My mind must have taken a vacation when I was writting that.

I meant the relationship between snape and Lily.
