And so he has:
“Grey’s Anatomy” star Isaiah Washington has publicly apologized for his behavior during an on-set scuffle with co-star Patrick Dempsey.
“I sincerely regret my actions and the unfortunate use of words during the recent incident on (the) set,” the 43-year-old actor said in a statement to People magazine. “Both are beneath my own personal standards. … I have nothing but respect for my co-workers … and have apologized personally to everyone involved.”
Even Shonda Rhimes has no spoken up:
It “was 4 seconds of one day in three years. I feel like we’ve already moved on.”
Shall we, too, move on?

Yes, the answer is yes. We should move on with our lives. He apologized, no one’s hurt or dead, move on.
Oh, yes please. I love the character of Preston Burke as played by Isaiah Washington and don’t believe the show would be the same without him. I heard Isaiah Washington being interviewed by Megan Mullaly on her talk show discuss how he is so glad that the public has accepted his relationship with Sandra Oh’s character on the show because it may open doors for acceptance of all kinds of relationships including that of same gender. I don’t think a comment made in anger that was not meant to be public should be used against him. He is wonderful on this show and would be greatly missed. Thank you, for moving on.
The homophobic jerk should be fired. This program has been ruined for me.
And whadya mean that no one was hurt? Knight was forced to acknowledge that he’s gay and maybe do serious damage to his career because of what had virtually become public because of Washington’s vile remarks.
No one forced T.R. Knight to admit anything. If he didn’t want to acknowledge his life style he could have ignored a comment that he wasn’t even on the set to hear, or he could have denied it. I don’t think he has any reason to be ashamed or secretive about his sexual orientation. Do you think coming out of the closet, if he was in one, has hurt T.R. Knight at all? I don’t. Fans have rallied around him and family and friends probably already knew. If anyone was hurt by this it was Isaiah who has had his acting ability and his character attacked by people spouting off about tolerance. Where is their tolerance? People make mistakes. People say things in anger that they wish they had not said. He never called anyone a name. He never said he hated gays. Quite the contrary he has gone on television in interviews and spoken out in support of relationships of all kinds including same gender before this altercation ever happened. He apologized for an unfortunate choice of words in the heat of an argument. Give the man a break. He is a good person who has done good things with his celebrity. He is also a fantastic actor who has brought Dr. Preston Burke to life in a way no one else could do. They have gotten past it, we need to, too.
I understand that we don’t know how he feels inside about his actions and we can never know that, but there has to be some kind of repercussion beside the media fall out. He may have done many wonderful things with him celebrity that will never be noticed but this will and there needs to be clear cut actions showing that this is not acceptable or tolerated behavior. I am sure that spats happen on set all of the time and do not get this kind of media coverage. But because this incident has there has to be a reconing. Whether he has spoken out in support of homosexuality is of no concern. You have to show that you mean what you say and he directly contradicted everything he has apparently been advocating. Everyone does make mistakes and everyone has said something that they regret but apparently this is not the first time he has lashed out on set. I hope that the network makes it very clear that it should be the last. As far as, wether or not it hurt T.R. Knight to come out is also not the point. It is his life and whether he wanted to come out or not is his own business. The fact of the matter is because of the incident he felt he needed to. Was there a backlash against him. No, but I think that it is unfortunate that he was put in that position in the first place. As far as getting past it. I definatly agree it is time to move on. I think people are just wanting the network to recognize that he was wrong and offer some kind of penalty and for Mr. Washington to have to pay some kind of penace besides, I am sorry. Sometimes there needs to be more. When you are in the public eye you are held to a higher standard. Although unfair it is a necessity because you are no longer living a completely private life. You are living a public life and whether you intend to or not you are setting an example. What ever example you you want to set is up to you, but personally that network has a higher responsiblity to their public.
WELL bruke need to stay on the show with out burke there wouldn’t be any show the show depands on Burke and sheperd
The show DEPENDS on Burke?!?! You’re mad! Burke is a secondary character.
Isn’t it interesting that now that ass Isaih Washington denies he ever called TR that word? He should be fired – I can’t watch the show any more
If it’s settled behind the scenes, it should be settled with us. We don’t even know what actually happened. As much as I hate it that he might have said something degrading, I’m sure everyone that has posted something on here has said something they didn’t really mean that would have “hurt someone’s feelings”. I think that if we don’t know the story-which we don’t-and it’s okay with the cast, keep the show coming. It’s a great show and it definitely has me hooked..along with millions of others! He apologized and if it’s all working out now, we shouldn’t be bothered by it. There are bigger things to worry about in life besides who might have said something to someone else on the set of a show that we don’t even know what happens on…move on. It’s a good show. If they work it out, we should be fine with it too.
Tammy – That’s what we all said THE LAST TIME AROUND WHEN HE APOLOGIZED!!!
Since he basically took back that apology last Monday, several cast members, including the one who was slandered, T.R., have indicated that they ARE NOT OK WITH IT AT ALL.
Everyone deserves a second chance, anyone can make a mistake…but Washington HAD his second chance, and what did he do? Take back the apology
that earned him that chance!
There’s never going to be equality and justice for all, when there are people willing to sweep injustice towards others under the carpet.
Why should we care? Because anyone can be called a c*nt, f*ggot, n*gger, wh*re, sl*t, – whatever – in the workplace, and as a society we have to stand against such behavior.
Cant We all just get along
