Well, it’s official, Isaiah Washington returned to the Grey’s Anatomy set yesterday, after a week of counseling for his homophobic slurs.
Don’t know if that means he’s back for good, or if issues still need to be worked out. I imagine there will be issues for a while, all the same.
Hope he’s returned a new man. Or … something.

He better not be back at the expense of T.R. If I had to pick between the two, it would NOT be Isaiah!
The interesting thing that came up this week is Rosie O’Donnell mentioning on The View that she and Isaiah have mutual gay friends in common and that they say he’s a great guy.
Not that it’s in any way an excuse for the language he used, but it would seem that his real problem is anger management. The good news about this is that for most people you can’t cure outright bigotry with a few weeks of counseling, but anger management CAN be learned and practiced.
If this is indeed the case, although it may take time, bridges could well end up mended at Grey’s.
T.R. had every right to feel hurt and offended by what happened and how it was handled by the producers and the network, but again, if Isaiah is sincerely sorry and not actually a homophobe, there is hope that relationships can be mended.
Time will tell if Isaiah is indeed sorry for the hurtful words he insensitively used. He’s pledged to help educate people about the dangers of hate speech and if he follows through, some real good may have come out of all this.
So here’s to hoping that out of bad comes something good.
He is back now just get over it and let’s just watch the show..
No one should leave and TR needs to stay because it is a great show and he has a good part. Let’s get over this rasist and gay s&^% (we all have taken sides and won’t to say it is a racial thing or that it is a rasists to gay people. I am guilty of taking a side to but now I see that we all need to just stop because it is not doing any good but just showing that we all have deep issues hidden inside) we all have going on up here on this boards and just get back to the show.
DAMN I AM SICK OF THIS BULL%^&(
It is sad to say but America won’t expect TR being openly gay in hollywood.
Sorry to say it but the world has not come that far yet.
Hollywood would not offer him any good parts because they would not think that he was beleiveable as a straight man in love with a woman or a superhero. They think that the average woman would not go to see him in a movie or that men would not relate to him. The only parts he would get would be to guest star on a show or to be that funny gay guy in all the movies, and he has to much talent to have his career ended up like that. Gay people are going threw what Black people and Hispanic people went threw years ago and still deal with.
SORRY TO SAY IT BUT THE WORLD HAS NOT COME THAT FAR YET. AND IT SHOWS JUST HOW WE ALL REALLY THING ON THESE MESSAGE BOARDS. MAYBE SOMETHING GOOD CAN COME FROM THIS AND SOMEONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ISAIAH HAD MAY GET HELP.
SO EVERYONE MOVE ON FROM THIS AND JUST ENJOY THE SHOW!!!!
NOW WITH THAT SAID. (2-1-07 show) How sad was that what Meredeth’s mother said to her? Love that they opened the free clinic with the money. Maybe that might inspire people to give back and donate more.
That COMMENT was not ment for anyone. I hope we can all just move on.
Ria, You and I have certainly had differences of opinion regarding this entire dust-up, but please allow others to voice their feelings with out “yelling” at them via comments.
Cathy has a right to voice what she feels, as do you and I. The incident is winding down to it’s natural conclusion
and everyone has a right to express their opinions. People will “get over it” in their own time.
T.R. is not leaving, Isaiah is not leaving, the show will go on, and people will let it go.
I think EVERYONE is in agreement at this stage of the game that if fences can be mended behind the scenes, we’re all happy to see the cast stay intact.
For my part, I think you are wrong about America not being ready to accept T.R. – T.R. does not have a future as a leading man, he is a supporting actor, a character actor, and therefore I do not believe he’ll have problems with future roles. If it were Patrick Dempsey who had come out, I’d be in agreement with you as I do not believe America will currently accept a gay leading man. However, at this stage of the game I don’t believe T.R. will have any problems being hired to play the type of roles he would have been considered for prior to his coming out.
AND…on that subject – anyone out there hear what Patrick Dempsey said about his feelings regarding Grey’s in Details magazine? If there should be concern about any cast member leaving, it’s Dempsey, as he is voicing dissatisfaction with his role in this recent interview.
As the “breakout” star of Grey’s, sounds to me like he’s looking to get back to the big screen and ditch the series ala George Clooney.
I hope Ingrid posts a snippet with his quotes from the article, ’cause if anyone is not going to be renewing their contract, it sounds like it will be Dempsey.
Well, just in case Ingrid misses it, here’s the quote from Dempsey in Details:
But Dempsey, 41, is growing tired of playing doctor — even though he’s got three more seasons left in his six-year contract.
“Things are going well, but I’m not satisfied,” he says. “I don’t think the character is going to change that much. Shonda Rhimes has created a great show. And I’m contributing to that and have benefited from that profoundly. And she’s benefited by being smart enough to cast me when no one else did. [It’s] been a great opportunity, but it’s not the end-all, be-all of where I want to go.”
To keep him stimulated in the meantime, Rhimes has given Dempsey some healthy (and well-muscled) competition: the virile Dr. Mark Sloan (Dr. McSteamy), played by former Charmed heartthrob Eric Dane, 34. Is McDreamy feeling the heat?
“There’s no real competition,” says Dempsey, with not-quite-imperceptible defensiveness. “We’re so different. It will be interesting to see where the dynamic of that friendship goes in the show. I think the women characters are developed very well. I sometimes feel that the men get a little shortchanged. [Rhimes] is writing an idealized version of what men should be.”
Sounds like if anyone is going to try and get out of their contract, it’s him.
He started out in movies and I suspect that he wants to use his current “heat” to get back there.
LOOK…. OUT OF THIS WHOLE SERIES THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE. HE REALLY NEEDS TO GET OVER HIS PRIDE AND MOVE ON WITH THE SHOW. THE RESPONSE FROM THIS SHOW IS BIG!!!!!!!!! DONT LET THIS RUIN EVERYTHING. THE WHOLE TEAM IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! I LOVE ALL OF YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!
JCW I already said in one of these boards that Patrick D. would problaby leave and I am glad that someone else picked up on that. But I feel that if TR left that he would not get any good roles at all. Sorry but I do and as far as Cathy’s comment it was coming from a nasty mean though in her head. That was a comment that was just to bash Isaiah. She didn’t give a D%$# about the show and you know it. Keep it real..
Get over it in the heat of battle or an arguement we all say things we don’t mean it’s just words said during a fight that you say your sorry for later it was really between the two of them and nobody else had to get in it and if they had’nt they would have said sorry and shook it off a long time ago but because others jumped in and got affended on someones behalf it kicked off a big sh– storm and someone had to go to consouling instead of them going out for a beer and resolving it and now the whole world knows about it and he might not have been ready to come out yet but because people decided to get
upset on his behalf he had to step up.
