It is definitely true now! Katie Holmes IS headed to Broadway and will star in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons sometime this fall. Producer Eric Falkenstein has confirmed it today.
Katie will be hitting the Broadway stage with John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson. Sounds like a good lineup to me! This will be Katie’s Broadway debut and I am sure she has a lot of excited fans. Dates for the opening night and show times have not been set yet, but as soon as I find out, I’ll let you know.
Congrats Katie!!

I like Katie but does anyone think she has the acting ability to do a decent job in an Arthur Miller play? I’m skeptical. I think the producers chose her because she’s a curiosity now that she’s married to Cruise…and that should lead to good box office.
Congratulations Katie!
I am sick with jealousy!!!!!! Ahhh…. I want to be on Broadway and to look like her……..I may actually drive (and drag my husband with me) to NYC to take this play in!!!!
You’re not accepted to Broadway because show producers see you as a curiosity.
Congratulations Kate, for wanting to broaden your horizons and being brave enough to accept the challenge.
I wish you all the best,
Jan
Oh totally Mary, having a name like kh will bring in the paying customer. When it comes down to it, the investors don’t WHY anyone pays to see the play. They just care that they DO pay to see it.
kh will do just fine. This will be a new and exciting challenge for her!
Okay I just HAVE to say this…..HOW on earth can she accept doing this play ALL THE WAY in NYC and NOT move into her HUGE NEW HOUSE?????
“All My Sons”?????! Isn’t that a bit of a downer? Does Katie have the chops?
Lolli
Congratulation Katie! I wish her all the best and I hope she does a great job!
Wonderful news. Congrats to Katie.
Lolli, NO, don’t know what she is trying to do.
She should stay in LA and have another baby.
This disruption will not be good for Suri and will not have a good outcome.
I’m sure Tom will be there every night with Suri!
How wonderful that Tom is making all of Katie’s dreams come true!!
It’s true, they are living happily ever after.
Yessssssssssss! I’m so happy. Congrats to Katie.
The following is from the playbill. It makes it all the more like it is happening!
I do wonder why they list who katie is married to and not list the spouses of the others? Her spouse had nothing to do with her getting the gig, did he?
John Lithgow was most recently on Broadway as con man Lawrence Jameson Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. His other recent theatrical credits include A.R. Gurney’s political comedy Mrs. Farnsworth and The Retreat From Moscow. Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in The Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success and received Tony nominations for Scoundrels, Requiem for a Heavyweight and M. Butterfly. He was also seen in the “Dreamgirls” film as a 1970s Hollywood producer and is currently playing a limited engagement at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater in John Lithgow: Stories By Heart.
A two-time Academy Award winner, Dianne Wiest has appeared on Broadway in Solitaire/Double Solitaire, Frankenstein, Othello, Beyond Therapy, In the Summer House and a staged reading of Salome. She won her Oscars for her work in “Hannah and Her Sisters” and “Bullets Over Broadway” and was also nominated for her performance in “Parenthood.” Wiest’s numerous film credits also include “The Lost Boys,” “Bright Lights Big City,” “Independence Day,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo” and “Radio Days.” She is also an Emmy Award winner for 1989’s “Road to Avonlea.” Wiest was recently seen Off-Broadway in the revival of The Seagull.
Patrick Wilson scored raves and a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in HBO’s “Angels in America.” He received Tony nominations for his work in Oklahoma! and The Full Monty and made his Broadway debut in The Gershwins’ Fascinating Rhythm; he was also seen on Broadway in Barefoot in the Park. Wilson’s screen credits include Raoul in the film of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera as well as “Purple Violets,” “Running with Scissors,” “Little Children,” “Hard Candy” and “The Alamo.”
Katie Holmes has been seen on screen in “Batman Begins,” “Disturbing Behavior,” “Teaching Mrs. Tingle,” “Pieces of April” and “Dawson’s Creek.” All My Sons will mark the actress’ Broadway debut. Holmes is married to film actor Tom Cruise.
Puck, can you say more PR? That’s for the few people that don’t already know her as Tom Cruise’s wife.
When NK starred in 1998’s The Blue Room, it was mentioned that she was married to Tom Cruise as well.
All My Sons has a wonderful cast and it is a fantastic opportunity for Katie.
Its great! I hope she nails it!
Oh my Lord….that is soooooo ridiculous!!!!! Mentioning her husband TC!!!!! Like the entire free world doesnt already know who her bed partner is!!!!! Why did his name need to be thrown into her list of achievements??? These were her stage and film credits…. to mention TC, well come on now!! LOL. I love Katie but this is just silly.
Jenna: Marrying TC is her greatest achievement, thus far. She is certainly not known for her acting abilities or box office draw.
It would be interesting to learn whether the producers wanted that in there or her pr people. It is quite odd.
Tyler…………It isn’t odd at all. PlayBill has done it before and I’m sure will again.
In the write up on NK for The Blue Room in 1998, they did mention TC as well.
———————————
Inside of the Play Bill there is a section titled Who’s Who of the cast and that list film/stage/TV credits and also husband, children etc.
Just because they did it for Nicole doesn’t make it sound like a normal thing to do. If they did it for all the cast then it might make more sense.
I don’t believe there’s anything odd about it because I’ve seen/read the same before from PlayBill.com.
That sort of write up is far from unusual.
Congs Katie! I wish I could see it. I hope am in NY at the time. I will definitely go see it if I am.
Mentioning her husband is not big deal. I am sure it was done by the person writing the article for their readers. As usual it is made a big deal of. The reason NK is brought up is because I am no one complains when they write that she is an ex wife of TC every time she is mentioned. Note that in a TC story, she is rarely mentioned. I am yet to read a NK story where TC is not mentioned. Her biggest achievement thus far?
Katie does not have to win oscars or be a box office champ. All she has to be is herself. Beautiful and a lovely person.
That is such a beautiful picture of her.
You may be right. It stands out with her since her notoriety is in large part due to his fame. It’s still a fair observation in my opinion.
Are only a select few allowed to post remarks?
“I’m sure” Nicole does not mention TC everytime she’s interviewed. TC hardly her biggest achievement. “I’m sure” that if asked she would say her kids are her biggest achievement. Amazing that the very person who gets upset at negative publicity aimed at tomkat has no problem slinging mud at nk LOL.
It is not mudslinging Tyler, it is the truth. I don’t remember any interview she has given without TC being the highlight issue.
I could say the same for you Tyler, you hit out at TC and his family all the time and yet you clearly cannot stand seeing NK criticised.
Too funny Lauren. All Katie has to do is be herself?? She is indeed beautiful, but I don’t think she will get to do anymore Broadway unless she exhibits some acting chops. It is looking a bit doubtful for her film career at this moment-however hollywood people ‘reinvent’ themselves all the time so she may yet make a comeback in film post TC. sort of like NK did.
Since her separation with TC is a figment of imagination and a distant dream for those who profess to love her, then I guess her career will have to wait. LOL
Jokes aside, Katie is a very good actress and DC, go, pieces of April all showed this. Her film career is jolly fine in my opinion. What then do you think of Michelle William’s career and other fellow DC alumni, they have not done as well as Katie at the box office recently. Do you think we should call Michelle William’s career dead for her latest movie flop? With no hope for her next movie ‘Incindiary’ doing better at the BO or reviews?
Come on people, enough with this career talk, saying it over and over again will not make it true. Katie is still a decent actress expanding her horizons to broadway. Good luck to her.
You think NK’s career was dead when she was married to TC?
You think she would have been as successful as she is in her career if she had never married TC? I don’t, I think her success would have been like that of Naomi Watts in my opinion. Marriage to TC made her a bigger star. Her movies are still duds at the BO though. Even the Golden Campass fell way below studio expectations. Fact, not criticism.
Katie was on DC for 6 years and I never heard her acting credentials called into question even once. Infact, she got good reviews year after year. She has talent. When all this ruckus dies down, she will be able to get back to her career and build it steadily. She is still young after all. No need for her to break her family up (like some of her fans would like her to) and have a fantastic career but a miserable life.
Boring, boring, boring, Lauren. You are so predictable. I am a fan of DC. And I think before Mad Money, Katie was making some quite interesting movie choices that were positioning her to some major movie opportunities. I am hopeful that she shines in this Broadway opportunity. You have your opinion about how happy she currently is and I have mine. We probably should agree to disagree on that issue.
I agree that NK may not have been the success she is today without TC, but to say she’s not a fine actress is petty and simply untrue. Lousy actresses don’t win oscars. One of the things that held the Golden Compass back in the U.S. was the controversy over the author’s belief system and how he incorporated that into the movie. I believe it did very well overseas. I never watched KH on TV so I can’t speak to her talent, but I do agree that she will have many opportunities. The Batman deal didn’t go well, but that doesn’t mean her career would or should have ended. She’s still very young.
There is lots of stuff on the net on this family. We need updates…Thanks
There really isn’t that much stuff about them on the net now…………Not new anyway.
This is the write up for Katie on Broadway.com:
Holmes will make her Broadway debut in All My Sons. She made her film debut in Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm, which led to her role in the popular television series Dawson’s Creek. Other film credits include Disturbing Behavior, Go, Wonder Boys, Pieces of April, The Singing Detective, First Daughter, Thank You for Smoking, Batman Begins and Mad Money.
Tyler: It is not the movie, but the books. The author literally kills GOD in the books. That was the controversy. he wanted to create another NARNIA series based on his beliefs. He failed, to the least!
Also, the books weren’t that great.
Oprah highest increase in ratings in the 2days before and one day after the first Cruise interview.
The Oprah Winfrey Show tops the list for biggest % increase from time-shifting at 10.3%, and had the largest absolute audience size via DVR viewing at 661,000 for the week of April 28- May 4, 2008.

CM, I didn’t mean to be boring. I was just trying to voice my opinion.
I think Nicole is a very good actress. Very. Yes the golden campass had some issues. But on the whole, she has never had that box office pull. Female actresses rarely do and they have to depend on the male lead or the script to draw the crowds in the cinemas. Julia Roberts once did not any more though.
Funny but after Bat man and Phone booth, mad money has been Katie’s strong perfromance at the BO. It did not do as badly as many would like to have us believe given its genre. I am sure the studio chiefs were happy with the figures.
I meant boring in that you still attack anyone who says anything conceivably negative about tommyboy. I notice that you say a lot that you really like NK but in review of prev posts you seem to say how much you like her as you criticize something or everything about her, her looks, her acting, etc. There is no way that anyone in the industry or otherwise would be able to say that Mad Money did well for itself. It is already coming out on DVD soon. By any recorded standard, it didn’t fare well in box office at all.
There is NO such thing as BAD when it comes to tommygirl
That should read tommy and and his girls! ooops
According to icydk.com TomKat has sent out invitations to all their pals to their housewarming party on May 31 at their Beverly Hills mansion.
Where is Julie, how come she is not updating the post?
“their” mansion. do you suppose title’s in her name too? now, that would say it all. if tc put the title in her name as joint tenant, then i would say he is truly serious about the situation.
Well good they will have a couple of months in the new manse before heading off to NY. I wonder if the whole fam will come or just TC and Katie and Suri. I imagine Bella and Connor won’t go if the aunts or mother-in-law doesn’ t go. NY would be an excellent experience for them for a few months tho..and being home-schooled, I imagine they could be schooled anywhere.
Mary, there is a great little story in the current life&style about Suri’s wardrobe. There are plenty of new pieces out there some good and some not quite as positive which won’t appear here of course. There were dozens and dozens of stories right after the O interview-well they probably wouldn’t post here either. LOL.
From TMZ.COM:
in a move totally out of character, Tom Cruise has sicked his lawyers on luxury baby boutique Petit Tresor, accusing them of babbling to the tabs about Suri’s outrageously expensive designer Scientoloduds.
According to the cease and desist letter sent by Cruise’s law firm, the store leaked false info that Suri’s parents dropped a cool $350 – $400K on the tot’s wardrobe over the last two years. Tom and Katie’s mouthpieces claim the store violated their clients’ right of privacy.
The lawyers are asking the store to, “not say anything (whether true or false) about Mr. Cruise and Ms. Holmes’ shopping habits.”
When TMZ spoke to Petit’s Andy Behrman all we got was, “Are we allowed to comment?”

I saw pictures of Suris “$350k wardrobe. SO SO SO DARLING! And SO WHAT if that is the real cost. They are CUTE CUTE outfits.
As for the mansion being in her name, I had read on PRO cos site that the place will be in cos name since it will be used for cos purposes too.
tc and his family will have part of it and the rest will be cos based.
I do realize that this is pure speculation but it does make sense.
