Jared Padalecki in "Friday the 13th" remake

Jared Padalecki is said to be in final negotiations to star in the remake of the 1980 horror classic Friday the 13th.

The remake of Friday the 13th is said to focus on the hockey mask-wearing serial killer, Jason Voorhees (played by Derek Mears), giving the character more screen time than in the original film. Jared Padalecki will play an investigator in the movie, going to investigate Crystal Lake – it is unclear if his character will investigate the supposed drowning of Jason as a child, or the current slew of murders. Synopsis:

After the supposed death of her son at a summer camp, a mother begins to kill the camp employees. After her death at the hands of the remaining employees, her son returns to continue her bloody work. [imdb]

Friday the 13th will be directed by Marcus Nispel and is set to hit theaters on Friday, February 13, 2009. The movie will begin filming on April 21 in Austin, Texas.

Jared Padalecki can also be seen on screen this December in the first movie of a trilogy based on the life of Thomas Kinkade in Home for Christmas. You can check out more on that movie, including promotional photos, here.

Jared is doing well. I would love to see him in more movies. I do watch Super Natural every week. It’s a little confusing because Jared used to be Dean on GG. Now his name is Sam and his brother’s name is Dean on SN.
