Jay-Z Being Sued For Whispering?

Mary J. Blige & Jay-Z Live in Oakland Jay-Z may have to change his song’s title to “88 Problems” since he’s being sued for $88 million dollars!  What did he do???  He allegedly stole someone’s whisper!

New York rapper, Mitchell Rose, is suing Jay amidst claims that Jigga stole his “whisper rapping” style.  Apparently, he gave Jay a “CD containing his lyrics on May 13, 2001, during a Felix Trinidad fight at Madison Square Garden.”  At least the lawsuit becomes more credible at this point since Rose alleges that Jay “stole lyrics which resulted in copyright infringement by using selected parts of material.”

The money is to compensate Rose for “loss opportunity and punitive damages for mental distress.”  Uh huh…

I’m sorry but I think this lawsuit is weak.  We’ll see what the judge has to say.  Maybe I’m missing something…

I hope this is not true because as far as Im concerned its someone just trying to get some of Jay-Z, money!, especially now that he is married to Beyonce who also has money!
I hope the probem can be resolved in a manner
that dosent hurt Jay-Z , or his reputation!

J – unfortunately this is the business. This happens everyday. A person gives a celeb a demo, the celeb or his rep will use the demo w/o giving the person their credit or compensating them for their talent. Bey has faced this in the past as well. What’s interesting that you don’t hear anything about that Desiree lawsuit that was filed in Manhattan Fed Court for $10,000? I think they must have settled that suit w/ gag order to match. LOL!!!

I wouldn’t worry about Jay, it’s hard to convince any court of law that WHISPERING is covered under the copyright laws! LOL

thats all they do nowadays, sue, sue, sue. all about money. well, rap sort of is all about money. thats why i dont like rap. most of them are sellouts, except for the flobots of course. they rule. sorry, im rambling, this seems like one of the dumbest things ive read in a long time. the guy suing NEEDS to get over it!

This is a joke! This lawsuit will get thrown out as soon as Jay’s lawyers get a chance. How can yo say someone in the entertainment industry stole your style? And, Jay’s been known to switch up his style of rapping, but at the time of 2001, he had the same flow he did since 1997! All they have to do is listen to a Jay-Z album. And, if dude is hurting so badly over his “lost opportunity” and “mental distress” why did it take him 7 years to file suit or even mention it for that matter? Jay-Z will be laughing at him all the way to his accountant’s office because all this dude is gonna get is some high ass attorney’s fees and court costs he’ll have to pay! LOL
