I’ve read reports on Us Weekly and RadarOnline that, Jeff Archuleta, the father of American Idol season 7 runner-up, David Archuleta, was arrested after police found him in a massage parlor with a prostitute. WHOA! There have always been all kinds of rumors about the odd behavior of Jeff (who allegedly withheld water from David during a rehearsal) but this is the first time I’ve heard anything that was actually incriminating.
Apparently, Jeff pleaded no contest and paid a $582 fine after being busted at the Queens of Reiki on January 14, 2009 in Midvale, Utah. As Us Weekly reports, Midvale Police Sgt. John Salazar said: "Two of our detectives went back to that room to stop the activity. Inside they found a female masseuse and male client. At that time an interview ensued and the male client admitted to receiving sexual gratification from the masseuse." Court documents reveal that 41-year-old Jeff Archuleta was that male client. His lawyer says that it things are not what they appeared and that Jeff was there for a back problem and simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
There’s a lot of things to consider. The first is that even good people make dumb mistakes sometimes. Second, it’s really none of our business. Third, he actually might be innocent (I doubt it, though, if he didn’t even try to fight the charges).
For those of you who want to talk about this, I’m sure the fact that this is a Mormon (Latter-Day Saint) family is going to come up. Of course, being religious doesn’t make you an actual saint and getting down with a hooker doesn’t make you evil. I’d like to know what you think about this, though.
My only real immediate frustration was over the fact that this must have been pretty hard on David who has all but said that he plans to wait for marriage.

Omg! i pray this is all a mistake! he could be innocent, all i know whether true or false this is hard for the whole family, im keeping them in my prayers!

This story did break on Fox News. It is in fact court public record. Two undercover police were monitoring the establishment for awhile after another tenant complained. After they felt they had reason to suspect there was illicit sex being conducted at that establishment, two undercover police entered the facility and found only one client there. The masseuse was dressed in lacy underwear and a male client was laying down. They asked the male client if he had engaged in illicit sex and he said “yes” as reported by the arresting police officer. At that point, the officer read him his rights. They had to read it twice as he claimed he did not understand his rights. They arrested both the prostitute and the male client. At court, he pleaded “no contest” paid the fine of $582 and was told that if he did not engage in illicit sex with a prostitute for the next 6 months, this arrest would be removed from his record. His lawyer claims that a plea of “no contest” does not admit to guilt even though the police officer claimed he did admit to engaging to illicit sex right before being arrested and the lawyer said Jeff was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That is a true statement, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time in that the police officers weren’t there to nab “Jeff Archuleta – father of David Archuleta” but just doing a sting operation to stop prostitution being conducted at that premises after receiving complaints from other tenants nearby.
