Jennifer Hudson Continues to Rock - As Aretha!!!

Jennifer Hudson maroon dress

Oh, sweet baby girl! Can you get any better??? I love Jennifer Hudson and I loves me some Aretha Franklin! What could be better than Ms. Hudson portraying Ms. Franklin? Uhh, not a whole lot (okay, maybe an end to world hunger and violence – you’re so picky!) but this is pretty darned awesome. Read on, babies:

It looks like Jennifer Hudson has another role of a lifetime on her hands here. She’s been hand picked by Aretha Franklin to play her in her upcoming biopic called “Aretha: From These Roots”. A lot of people are saying she’s only going to be typecast because she’s doing another film based on a famous singer. But Jennifer’s next film, Winged Creatures, has nothing to do with music as far as I know. In that movie she plays Forrest Whittakers daughter and the plot is really similar to that show The Nine. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got Oscar buzz from either project.

Cicely Tyson and Billy Dee Williams also are slated to star in the movie, and Terrence Howard is set to play Smokey Robinson. Great casting so far!

I cannot wait! I am sooooooo excited!

The music industry got it right, Jemmifer as Aretha is the best choice..

I am so proud of Jennifer Hudson. I hope she will continue to make her mark as a singer and actress.

JH is a talented, gifted and humble actress. When she (won) her oscar, there of course was positive as well as negativity surrounding her win because she’s not a veterian. Talent is talent. She’s extremely good @ what she does and I’m banking on her winning an Oscar again with one or both of these movies. Hollywood isn’t kind to women of color, so you should realize in order for an unknown black woman to win an oscar—-it was earned for her talent.

At least she will be able to do like Sissy Spacek did for Coal Miner’s Daughter – sing the songs herself! If Jenifer does her homework right and remembers HER as well as Aretha’s gospel roots, she’ll nail it right on!
