Jennifer Lopez to Speak at California Women's Conference

julystalkerjlo_02_sp.jpg

October is going to be a busy month for Jennifer Lopez. Rumor has it that’s the month she’ll be doing a triathalon, and now word comes that she’ll be a speaker at a women’s conference as well.

California First Lady Maria Shriver has announced the speakers for the 2008 Women’s Conference to be held October 21st and 22nd at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Jennifer will join more than 50 other speakers including Christiane Amanpour, Lance Armstrong, Cherie Blair, Bono, Warren Buffet, Sister Joan Chittister, Marian Wright Edelman, Sally Field, Michael J. Fox, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Caroline Kennedy, Heidi Klum, Jack Kornfield, Chris Matthews, Jenny McCarthy, Indra Nooyi, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Russell Simmons and Gloria Steinem. Oh, and let’s not forget “the governator,” Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Shriver said of the conference:

“This year, I am urging women to take time to explore their deepest hopes and aspirations, and I hope they leave the conference with a better sense of just who they want to be — and the knowledge of how to get there.”

I think J-Lo can inspire that kind of sentiment in people. Don’t you?

I imagine Jen will talk about juggling many aspects of career (singing, dancing, movies, and fashion), as well as now balancing all that with a family. She’ll probably HAVE to talk about training for the triathalon (if I were training for that I would totally blab to everyone all the time! haha).

Should be a very interesting event, especially given the variety of speakers. I know J-Lo will make her appearance memorable. Visit the site for more info, including ticket purchase details.

UPDATE (7/17): If you’re looking for tickets, you’re too late. Sources say the conference sold out in only three hours! Last year they sold out in three days. Wow – that’s quite a new record. Marissa Moss, a political consultant that works with Maria Shriver and the Women’s Conference said, “This is the fastest tickets have ever sold.”

[...] dogs! Is that Hollywood or what? Of course, the Governator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has vetoed the bill. You think it’s cuz Maria Shriver drives with dogs [...]
