Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey Support Green Vaccines

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey turned out for the Green Our Vaccines rally yesterday. The cause is dear to their hearts as Jenny’s six-year-old son Evan Joseph was diagnosed with autism in 2005. Jenny has always claimed his childhood vaccines were to blame for his condition.

The campaign does not suggest parents forgo vaccines. Instead, it calls for the elimination of toxins and a less aggressive vaccine schedule.

The couple spoke to Good Morning America yesterday about the campaign and how they cope with Evan’s condition.

“When I first introduced Evan to Jim, you know…you never quite know what to expect.  A lot of people don’t understand, when they meet a child with autism,” Jenny said. “You have to be very animated to get that child’s attention, and I think I can tell you that I have the most animated boyfriend in the world.  But he really had a way of understanding Evan’s thinking.  And I watched it and went ‘Oh my gosh, he’s got it.’”

“They have issues with intimacy.  There’s not a lot of closeness.  They don’t want to be touched,” added Jim. “It’s tough to get them to focus on you when their mind is somewhere else it wants to be.  It took a lot of patience and a lot of love.”

It’s hard enough for a single parent to find love, but it must be that much tougher when you have a child with such special needs. I am so glad Jenny found Jim. It really does seem like they’re perfect for each other!

I just have one question, “if the ratio is 1:150 then why hasn’t one of my 3 children been diagnosed with autism? If vaccines are a major factor, then at least one of my children should have’ve been diagnosed. Have you research the enironmental issues are just vaccines? You know if I want to pull dirt on any issues all I have to find is the facts I’m looking for and get support by some professionals to back my views.

    Hi Allen

I didn’t write this story to support the movement or to create controversy. I was simply reporting on the stars involved and what they had to say. I’m a big advocate of vaccines myself, and I do think a lot of the things Jenny McCarthy has said regarding them are questionable. But that’s not really what the article’s about.

I have a grandson now that is 16 mos. old and I am concerned about vaccines. I think we should research to make a good decision before our children have vaccines. Years ago we never heard of autism at the degree we hear it now. I think it is a possibility that is true and we should be more concerned about vaccines.

I love articles like this. It doesn’t go too in-depth but addresses an important issue. Also… Allen… you’d have to have 150 kids for the ratio to play true. You only have 3… and you said they’re not autistic, so why are you complaining?

[...] them. But now that he’s partnered with Jenny McCarthy, taken a stand against vaccines and been an advocate for her son? He has my heart all aflutter. Nothing more sexy than a man who is passionate about the same things [...]
