Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson will reprise his role on Ugly Betty as Betty’s orthodontist Dr. Farkus. EW’s Ausiello reports that Ferguson will appear in the first episode back from the break on January 6.
I LOVE Ferguson on Modern Family – his character is one of the funniest on TV. I’ll be absolutely honest with you…I had forgotten that Ferguson was Dr. Farkus. He appeared in episode 1.17, Icing on the Cake. Here is a reminder:

As an aside, re-watching this episode was a whole lot of fun. Daniel had crazy hair, Alexis was relatively new, Charlie was her normal insane self, and in this episode, Amanda wore the infamous rubber dress.
Ferguson was really good as the good Doctor, interestingly, he was another man who had a crush on Betty. It will be very interesting to see his feelings when he returns.
According to Ausiello, “Ferguson was inserted into the episode at the 11th hour after ABC asked [Silvio] Horta to come up with a cool way to kick off the show’s move to Wednesdays. Approaching one of the night’s biggest stars (who also just happens to be a Betty alum) was a no-brainer. ‘In lieu of a recap, they asked if there was a fun way to start the [episode],’ he says. “So we decided to [bring] Jesse back.”
This is going to be awesome. Now, if they can just bring him back in the spring to do the deed!
(For those of you who think I’ve lost my mind, I mean ‘take Betty’s braces off’) :)
I don’t think Dr Farkus had a crush on betty. She asked him out and he agreed. And at the date he met Charlie. So the setup was really for him to meet charlie so we can have a who-is-the-father-moment.

Can’t wait for this ep! Dr. Farkus was cool yet kinda dorky.
And omg Constance! I miss her! It would be so funny if she re-appeared again, although I really doubt it. =/

I’m sorry but my English is not very good can anyone tell me what this means ‘Approaching one of the night’s biggest stars (who also just happens to be a Betty alum) was a no-brainer’ i don’t understand is it saying that America Ferrera is a no-brainer? can someone please explain.

He is a celebrity news “reporter”, from ew.com.

On the new airing night for Ugly Betty, Wednesdays, there is a show called “Modern Family” at 9:00pm time slot, where the actor that plays Dr. Farkus on Ugly Betty is a big star in that show. The “no brainer” means to use a star that is already popular on wednesdays in Ugly Betty when the shows premiers in the wednesday slot is a great idea.
Do you guys really think her braces will be off in this episode as a surprise? Or just yet another teaser? I think the braces will be off during may sweeps?

Because Dr Farkus is played by the same actor who’s now on Modern Family, it means it was a great idea of them to pick him to return now that they’re on the same night as Modern Family. The actor will be in two shows in the same night.
Don’t know if that’s clear enough.
