Jessica Alba and Idle Hands

In 1999, Jessica Alba starred in a comedy-horror flick called Idle Hands. The funny thing is, I was on the set of that movie but of course, at the time, her name meant nothing to me.

I was just starting out as an entertainment reporter and the big stars on the film were Devon Sawa and Eldon Henson.  I guess it’s pretty ironic that the supporting cast is now more famous than the leads — Seth Green, Vivica Fox and Jessica.

I might have met Jessica that day, but I really don’t remember (crazy, huh?) but I recently found the press kit for the movie in my stuff and thought you’d enjoy hearing what they had to say about her.

Jessica Alba is a seventeen year old actress with an impressive body of distinguished film and TV work to her credit. The California native and Air-Force brat made her feature film debut with the 1994 release “Camp Nowhere,” little more than a year after she took her first acting class. Following up that comedic role with the challenging portrayal of an imprisoned and abused girl in “Venus Rising,” she was then cast in the critically acclaimed “Leaving Las Vegas,” starring Nicolas Cage.

In 1995, when Jessica won the starring role of Maia in “Flipper,” she relocated to Queensland, Australia for two years and filmed 44 episodes. Crediting her delight over swimming with dolphins, today Alba is a PADI-certified diver and an avid aquatics fan.

In five short years, she has guest starred on the acclaimed TV dramas “Brooklyn South,” and “Chicago Hope,” been featured in epsiodes of “Beverly Hills 90210″ and “the New Love Boat.”

In addition to her co-starring role in Idle Hands, Alba will soon be seen in the just completed independent P.U.N.K.S, with Randy Quaid.
