I stumbled across this great article on The Huffington Post’s site written by Jessica Alba about her pursuit to enhance and improve global education. I didn’t realize just how much of a philanthropist Jessica really was and I have to admit I’m quite impressed. Although she’s known for her sexy roles and her babe factor she definitely is an intelligent woman trying to make a difference

The article was titled “Walking the Halls for Global Change” and is about her visit to Congress in Washinton, DC. She met with powerful women like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi who have both made such a difference already especially for young women.
Her meetings with fellow Congressmen led to the realization that action needs to be taken in order to get the 75 million children that are out of school into the classroom. This is a mission for the United States but also for the world.
Jessica’s fight for global education is because she believes that it’s the best way to fight poverty. I think she’s right. Education will also empower girls and women, giving them opportunities and tools to lead better lives.
She closed her article with a powerful statement:
Every child should have that chance to stand up and walk into their future. They need leaders in Washington and around the world to deliver on their promises so all our children can receive the education they deserve. With U.S. leadership, if we come together in 2010, we can make the lasting legacy of the first World Cup in Africa education for all children.
