Jessica Simpson had hoped to make her country debut a huge success with her performance this past weekend at Country Thunder USA in Wisconsin. However, the crowds booed her as she walked on stage. Fox News says Jessica tried to calm the crowd by saying, “I don’t know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I’m just a girl from Texas; I’m just like you. I’m doing what I love and dating a boy.”
Fox also says Jessica wore her latest country uniform of “a white button-down and cowboy boots” and that she performed songs by Shania Twain and Willie Nelson before performing a couple from upcoming album, Do You Know?
Does that mean that country won’t embrace Jessica? Not necessarily.
After all, since she was in Wisconsin, perhaps there were a few Tony Romo fans there that just didn’t like the fact that Jess is dating Tony. (Tony is from Wisconsin).
Or, since Carrie Underwood opened the show, there might have been a few fans that didn’t like Jessica’s “Real Girls Eat Meat” tee shirt.
It certainly wasn’t the best start for a new career change. Will Jessica be able to overcome the hatred of the country fans? Stay tuned.

Ritovskyta: I am a fan. And she WAS booed. (It wasn’t just one paper that said it.)
I think the fans will come around like country music DJ’s have come around. The DJ’s didn’t want to like her country single, either. But they did. They play it and people are requesting it.
As I said in the previous comment, I think her manager thought this would be a great place for her to debut not only because it’s a big festival but because it’s Tony Romo’s home state. But people in Wisconsin might not have felt the way Papa Joe thought they would.
Also, with Carrie Underwood opening the festival, that might have added to the boos.
Besides that, I’d heard from a few people that went that she got booed from some, and others “just sat through it” because they had to.
All that doesn’t mean to say her next outing won’t be more successful. I think if Jess sticks with country she will win people over and getting massive amounts of applause rather than polite silence or booing.
me: The story you link to says PAPA JOE said there weren’t any boos. Like he has an unbiased opinion!
The facts (from SEVERAL other sources) are that she was booed quite heavily. She had to respond to the crowd and try to settle them down. She went on to perform anyways. But she did it with a crowd that wasn’t totally into her. That doesn’t mean she won’t turn the critics around, however. And like I said, it was Wisconsin where perhaps they didn’t like her because of Tony Romo or because of Carrie. Who knows.
I get the people that don’t know jess. only know the Jess from the tabloids and the dumb one from newlyweds. I get how they might not want THAT JESS in their world or invading their music. But as she has already starting doing – she’s winning them. they try not to like her. bt they cen’t. of course they’re will always be haters. And it’s just not ” cool” to like Jess right now. that’s just fine. time will tell..
But, I get why those people will say she was booed based on the SAME report from a local newspaper, and not look around for other people who WERE there. You are a fan, right? so, how came you don’t came across as one?
that was http://www.tennessean.com
Get the facts http://www.tenneean.com. There were a couple of unruly people there, but most of the crowd loved her. She got a standing ovation and hsas already been ask back next year.
Ritovskyta: The photo on this post or the link from Yahoo?
Anyways, Jessica was booed. Most definitely. That’s why she tried to calm the crowd down by saying she’s just a regular ole Texas gal.
As far as the competition among Jess and Carrie, well, Jess kind of brought that on herself with her “Real Girls Eat Meat” t-shirt. Can’t blame her, I might feel like doing the same thing. But if you’re gonna go into the same line of work that the woman you’re taunting is in…. well, do the math.
What do those photos have anything to do with the post?
Plus, it was more than SHOWED – in videos – she was not booed.
And if she was. it would only be natural. people are trying to make a competiton among jess and carrie. there’s place for everything. just let her be. if she sucks, then let her fail on her own. the same with success. ..
Yeah, too much tanner, too much eyeliner.
She looks so old here in this picture…
