Jessica Talks to Country Radio

Here’s a great interview with Jessica Simpson and the guys from WQYK TV. This was from one week ago when Jess was making the rounds at Country Fest. For those of you unfamiliar, country radio likes to do a series of interviews all in a short period of time with artists. So a singer like Jess will go from booth to booth and literally do interviews for people all over the U.S. Pop music doesn’t work quite the same way.

But Jess has been in “the biz” quite a long time, so she’s pretty good at interviews. Besides that, she’s a charmer, and she certainly impressed these two D.J.’s from WQYK. They talked a bit about the Newlywed’s show, and one interviewer asked her if she really was as dumb as she came off on the show. Jess admitted that she has had “blonde moments” but that she wasn’t a dumb blond.

She also talked about country musical influences she’d had over the years. This was a very smart marketing move on her part because she’s tried so many different outlets and aluding to the fact that country had already been a part of her record collection adds some credibility. She mentions Martina McBride, George Straight, and Willie Nelson (of course!) as influences.

And of course, she mentions her Daisy Dukes! She also talks about her dad, and the influence he has on her career. Check it out:

    Peter,

Yeah, this could be a real comeback for her if she sticks with it. She seems very comfortable with the whole country vibe.

I think country music suits her better.
