John Travolta is choosing to ignore his son’s autism – it won’t go away, Johnny!

This is sick – as the parent of a special needs kid myself, if this is really true, these two need to be horsewhipped.

“I don’t think it’s a stretch to call their treatment of Jett child abuse,” Ocala, Florida restaurant manager Tim Kenny tells Hollywood, Interrupted. Kenny claims he met Travolta at his restaurant in February, and, after “comping” the movie star and his daughter a meal per restaurant policy for celebrities, he asked him, “as one autistic child’s father to another,” if he “was doing anything special in terms of therapy” for Jett. Aghast, Travolta responded, “Well, we involve him in the arts.” Then, he offered to send Kenny a book, and high-tailed it out of the restaurant.

“If I ever received a Scientology book from him [Travolta], I’d find him, and throw it back at him,” says Kenny. “Scientology is keeping him from acknowledging his son’s autism. They see it as a weakness. That’s what the space aliens are telling him I guess.”

Joking aside, the Kennys are “disgusted by” Travolta. They claim that Travolta has turned down invitations to participate in autism fundraisers, and most recently refused to participate in a local celebrity golf tournament if a connection to autism advocacy was promoted. The organizers of the charity tournament scheduled at the Golden Hills Country Club in November are alleged to have changed the billing from an autism event to the more generic “fundraiser for disabled children” to accommodate the star. Calls to event organizer, the Family Resources Coalition, were not returned by post time.

The Kennys also claim that Kelly and John “let Jett sit in front of video games all day eating junk food, while they eat the best organic food money can buy. They exclude Jett from all social events because they are embarrassed.”

“Once,” reports Kenny, “when Kelly took him to the movies, Jett started to have a meltdown and Kelly pointed at the nanny and ordered, ‘Take care of it.’”

“Jett does not speak at all,” confirms Kenny. “He has not even been taught how to communicate. We struggle every week to pay for our daughter’s therapy. How dare he [Travolta] ruin his own son’s chances of recovering! We want to get the word out on this.”

Ignoring it or asking Xenu to come down and go all Tom Cruise on his ass is NOT going to make him less autistic. Sick jerks.

People!! Mind your own business! How do YOU know if Jett had Autism or not? Get a life and use your time taking care of your own retarded children. Maybe YOUR children are miserable because you will not let them live between all their therapy???How dare you judge other people. It IS child abuse when you keep trying to change people with all their “therapy”. Most therapists are major screwed up in the head to begin with. Get a life people!!!!

how does everyone know that jett had autism, has
any one seen or talked to his doc. does anyone know for sure this is what it is .just because the child looks like he has autism, or looks like he has
anything. you should not call people bad parents
until you have proof.you don’t live with the family
so you don’t know anything.its sad to lose a child
so let the travolta.s grieve before you throw stones .just because they are movie stars doe;s
not mean that you can tear them apart. the media people are the cruellest people. one minute they are tearing you apart, the next they are sucking up to you. its their life let them grieve.

I just read on his death. Completely sad. I dont know what his diagnoses is but he obviously has something troubling him. Scientology is a cult. It’s a shame they do not see it that way. I’ve read many cases of abuse from the scientologist. It’s the guru for celebs. Jesus never hurt!

perhaps in 1994 or 1995, they just didn’t know what was wrong. just in this past decade, there have been huge strides in autistic therapy with a change of diet (no gluten, no dairy, no sugar or starches which makes the brain like glue), talking and interacting with a teacher, learning to be social and how to act, learning basic skills…even 15 years ago, people thought that children with autism were just hopeless. but at this point they should try something. my god, the kid is 16. he cannot communicate at all? he eats sugar and pizza and ice cream and plays video games and has no friends? recent pictures of him show a rather overweight boy. that is so so so sad. they only bring the little girl to anything. jesus. that is abusive sort of. it’s like they wish he was never born. and god knows those two sh*ts have money coming out of their asses. i feel so bad for the boy. even jenny mccarthy has been open about her boy’s autism. such a shame people have too big of egos and worry about their image.

To Mike Dillon: Hey man, dont give up. Do it for you innocent child if you can’t seem to find the strength to do it for yourself. A lot of things in life test us, we don’t always know when we’re being tested, but this it seems clear to me how you’re being tested, pardon my light words, but this is your chance to make your life and the life of your child as good as it can possibly be. Remember that ANYTHING is possible. Don’t feel bad or sad; a child in your son’s position needs special people to really take care of him, anyone can give up(ie. britney spears) on their kids, but it takes real strength to see things on a brighter side even when your thoughts and sight dwell in the dark. Know that God, or whatever good you believe in is always there watching and taking into account all the good deeds and help you have provided to your son. He will not forget you or him. Don’t ever doubt there is good out there, just keep your head up and find it.

How do any of you know for sure what this child has or doesn’t have. Surely, you people are not moronic enough to believe something you have read in the tabloids. How do you know for sure they are doing nothing? You can’t.

I may have issue with the way you people are raising YOUR autistic children – it goes both ways.

Donna – you are showing your ignorance if you believe something you have read without actually speaking with the Travoltas yourself.

I am in shock! If this is true, and John and Kelly have done nothing to help their son, then they are guilty of neglect.

My son is 8 years old and has autism. After years of therapy and vitamin treatments, he is very high functioning, in normal/regular classrooms and making straight As!

But that wasn’t always the case. We (my husband and myself) invested alot into his therapy and recovery. But it was worth every penny and all our efforts!

At age 2 he suffered from moderate to severe autism with no communication. At age 3 we began ABA therapy and vitamin therapy. It didn’t work overnight, but it did work!

He is now a happy 8 year old boy with almost no trace of autism.

John and Kelly are guilty of neglect if they have done nothing to help their son.

And what a shame. They have tons of money and could help not only their son, but so many others. What a shame.

I just read all this about them today – January 15, 2008. My husband also read this article. We used to be huge fans of John Travolta. But after reading this, we have decided to never watch him in any movies again.

What will 2 people boycotting his movies do? Nothing.

But it makes us feel better.

Oh, pease! A restaurant manager’s opinions about their kid? Maybe some thing should be private. Maybe the Travoltas ARE doing the best they can, and maybe Jett remains autistic, just like a lot of kids with autism. We do not know anything. If Kenny sat down with me at his restaurant and began asking about my kids’ problems, I’d blow him off just like John did.

What? Is this true? Can this be possible? I am in shock! My son was diagnosed at 4 & is now 27. I would never dream of letting years slide without gettting the help needed! If this is true, this is child neglect plain and simple! I hope its not! I havent ever heard this before! Say it isnt so!

What a waste these two “parents” have made of their childs life. My son Gabe was diagnosed with autism when he was three and a half. He couldn’t speak, hated being touched and had to wear a helmet for his constant head banging. Thanks to the wonderful early intervention Gabe recieved, involving many, many hours of speech therapy, occupational therapy and sensory integration, Gabe is now a very high functioning, happy autistic child. He attends regular kindergarten, has lots of friends, speaks very clearly and is on his way to a great life. He will face many challenges, but we’ll deal with them together and do everything we can as a family to help Gabe be all he can be.
That’s what family is about John and Kelly. If you need something to believe in, why don’t you believe in your son?
