American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, sang the national anthem at the start of tonight’s Super Bowl game. You could tell she was nervous but it is a great opportunity for such a young artist.
I’m not sure if I liked the arrangement but it suited her. She also looked super svelte in that cute black dress she was wearing. Did anyone else think she looked slimmed down?

Wow ok even if she did lip sync, she still sang it very well when she did record it. None of this nonsense takes away from the fact that she can sing. Whitney Houston, and even Aretha Franklin lip sync’d at the NBA finals one year and no one is making a big stink about it. It’s just people like to bring out so much negativity these days it’s sick. She did a great job….does anyone think that Paula Abdul’s cop-out is any better? Please I honestly think if there was a singing competition between Paula and Jordin—hands down Jordin would sing circles around that old Pop-wreck. What Paula did was a cop out. What Jordin did was normal. The folks in the Stadium heard her actually sing whereas everyone watching on television heard the pre-recorded version while watching her sing it live which was why it seemed out of sync….either way she really sang….if you want to blame and point fingers just for the sake of it, blame FOX, her managers and the Super Bowl Host Committee.
I only have a single question because I’m not giving an opinion one way or another – there’s virtually no noise behind Jordin, little cheering except from atmospheric stuff picked up by cameras. When I’ve listened to Beyoncé at the Super Bowl’s performance, you could hear the crowd through her mic. She almost got drowned out by it in the end.

What do you think (and this is NOT a comparison of their singing, by the way, but rather the noise behind them and the echo associated with live performances)?
Just making it clear – I am NOT saying Jordin lip-synched but even if she did, I have nothing to say about it. People do it every day and this is a big event for a young artist.
I love Jordin, but it does appear to me that she was lip-syncing. If you look closely, she gets out of sync with the track at one point. When you lip-sync, you are actually singing along with the track, so it has the appearance of really singing — because you are really singing — but we’re hearing the prerecorded vocal.
I am also a singer and doubt seriously she lip synced. If you say the beginning of the performance BEFORE she began singiing, she took a deep breathe and put the mic in front of her. It took some work for her to hit the high notes…which she does with ease. If you’ve heard her album, you can hear her range. She’s an awesome talent in her own right! She sung the anthem at the SUNS game prior to SUPERBOWL…a different rendition, and just as well! Stop hating on her. This girl is the real deal!
It is so amazing to always know you can count on people in this country to stray from positive things and just spend all their energy on seeking out and establishing the negative side of any issue. Seems everyone in this country has learned behaviors that will take generations to overcome – all learned by the way from the media. You never hear any reporting of good things – it is always the bad things that draw interest. Sad.
Jordin Sparks did an amazing job with her own voice spun from natural talent. Whether you liked the rendition or not is not important – to each his own taste in arrangement and style – Fact is the young lady sang from her heart and it is more than obvious that her body language and powerful talent is proud to be an American. Give credit where credit is due and stop the kindegarten swap of behaviors that is most unbecoming of adults living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. It does not matter to me whether she could sing, lip sync, or just bellow no not – she did what she was asked to do and she did it with grace and poise and with heart. Surely it is not so difficult to recognize that above all she did it her way – the girl has a natural gift – we all have some talent to bring to the table – if we focused on that positive note we would all be better off.
LIPSYNCHING ALL THE WAY ..ITS TOO OBVIOUS TO ME…she still has a great voice though..i know she was really nervous…i would be too ..dont want the track to skip..lol…she is talented either way..

you are sooo right ! she did amazing ! and evely though i HIGHLY doubt she was lip syncing, she sounds amazing either way ! so get over it people, she’s better than pretty much all of you will ever be! i LOVE YOU JORDIN ! congrats to a job phenominally done ! <3 and christine haha, you’re so right !
I agree with Bobang: the greatest arrangement for the American national anthem I ‘ve ever heard, and I am Canadian. Jordin did a good job, but to all the musicians out there, I am sure they would all agree: What an incredible and heartfelt arrangement!

Who cares if the girl was or was not lip synching. She still has an awesome voice wheather it be on tape or live and she looks damn good! I am proud to call Jordan Sparks our American Idol! YOU GO GIRL ;)
i dont care if she lipped it,or sang it live, she did a great job. lots of jealous people out there. i know lots of people that want her to record it so they can buy it. you go jordin

Jordan did a good job,but I must say she sounds like all the top 40 band singers at weddings all over the world.It is too bad that she ruined the greatist musical arrangement ever written for this song.I am still trying to find out who wrote it.
st-FU : get rid of the venom in your heart. what do you know about lipsynching…NADA. There is NO LAW that says lipsynching is a must. Even if she did, it was her voice..so either way, she did an awesome job. And a trained singer learns to reach the hard and high notes with less strain the more they practice. And yes..you can tell she really sang it because of her body especially her throat muscle motions.
As a professional singer, it is easy to tell Jordin did work hard to reach the high notes….I teach voice and she sang this song for real..no lip synching….you could easily see her throat muscles work , especially during the high notes..and that you cannot do if lipsynching.
COME ON PEOPLE. PULL YOUR CAT CLAWS BACK. JORDAN SPARKS SANG THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FROM HER HEART. SHE BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES. SHE LOOKS GREAT AND IS EVEN GOING TO GET BETTER. THAT WAS REAL. ALL YOU MEOWS, YOU NEED TO BACK OFF.

I think she did a wonderful job. My daughter is a fan of hers, and now I see why. She has an awesome voice. Keep up the good work.
Wow, she’s awesome! I wish they’d make the football players spit their gum out and show some respect.
