Jordin Sparks Tattoo Video

What do you think? I don’t like it. I am sorry but I think Jordin Sparks is being marketed all wrong! Again, I cannot put my finger on what is bugging me but I just do not like it. Remember – I’m not saying I dislike her – just this video.

***Okay, I’m editing this to include this comment – this video gets downright frenzied towards the end. Plus – which guy is she supposed to be with? There’s the main “video guy” and then she’s also dancing with Blake Lewis (which is cute but not all that relevant conceptually…)

My problem with the video is that it has an identity crisis. We have Jordin at the carnival w/ the guy, Jordin on the carousel alone, Jordin against a black background in color, Jordin against a white background in black/white. In reality, all we need are the carnival/carousel parts. Everything else is just unnecessary.

And Jordin and Blake MUST collaborate. I think they could make one another into stars, or at least have a massive hit with a team-up. Don’t know why I think so, but I have complete faith in that.

IMO Jordin is being marketed in this video as much too provocative in some scenes to being simply on a merry-go-round, to being undecided about who if anybody she would like to be with. The young lady is still only 17 years old. Why not just looking all grown up on the merry-g0-round to start. Subsequent videos can add the guys.

I’m actually embarrassed for her to have this video. I mean, how crappy! This is her first video and this is what it is? The whole video was useles and they made it look like some sort of Gap commercial with them posing with the black background.
They could have also given her a song that didn’t sound so much like “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce.

The video doesn’t match the story of the lyrics. The guy is gawking over her like he just met her for the first time. You don’t feel the permanent “tattoo” love they share. Good to see Blake in the video though.

Love the song…shows off Jordin’s beautiful voice……the video is a MESS !! Cute that Blake is on it, but still a mess. Why must every Female video have the females crawling on the floor, a bed, or a bar ??

i think the black&white part is a little strange, but i reallly like the song & mostly everything else.

blake in the video was cute :)

I see what you mean by her being marketed wrong. However, I really like this video. The black and white parts were just wrong, for me, I didn’t like it. I just can’t see her acting like that naturally. Not that is was very provocative or anything. I just see her being more like she is at the beginning a giggly type person, in the situation. (Did that make any sense?) Let me restate it another way: I think that the black and white parts were too old for her. I think they should have gone with her and the carousel, and the group carnival/carousel parts. The black background and shirt scenes are really cool though.

Oh and I was totally not expecting Blake to just pop up quite randomly. That was a great surprise! :)

    BLAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  10. Christine

I think the video was too much. I agree with the whole “identity crisis” thing. I don’t know. It just didn’t sit right with me.

    ALTHOUGH.
I just about DIED when I saw Blake in the video. :] He is adorable [I'm a Blaker Girl :D ] and I thought that was really cute :]

im glad she put blake in there. :) and i agree.. the black & white parts weren’t really fitting. they didn’t seem to match her adorable personality. i think maye she was just trying to be a little grown up in the video, but she’s gonna be sucessful, so she has the rest of her career for that. but overall, not a bad first video, in my opinion. but i can’t wait to see what else she’ll come out with ! (oh, and some of you people need to stop complaining.. hating her 1st song, hating her 1st video.. be nice & give this girl a chance to shine ! ’cause she’s gonna shine !)

Jordin’s voice is beautiful….The song has a good beat, but pretty much the same beat as everything else on the radio…..Beyonce uses the same music for every song..I swear. The video is out of sinc in spots and senseless.

i listen first time from radio thailand.
i am thai. i listen about 8 week i just see vidoe now. i listen only but i don’t know her and i don’ title. i like it.

It seems to me that no one leaving comments here understands the song. None of the guys in the video is her “tattoo.” Shes talking about a serious past relationship that she had to get out of because it was holding her back yet she still can’t seem to help “coming back for more” meaning even though she knows she needs to be independent and go on her own, she is still boy crazy so to speak. I think it is a GREAT teenage girl anthem and the video helps to further explain the song. IMO it could be seen as an analogy for loosing your virginity too early. It was mistake so you need to put it behind you but it still is going to affect your future decisions and try to learn from it and not make the same mistake again. No matter what you’ve done in your past its never to late to start again but you can’t just completely forget about your past either because then you are apt to make the same mistakes again. Okay now I’m rambling…

  18. Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown "No Air" Video

You guys really do not get that video??? Seriously? Sometimes your not singing a song to another person. Sometimes your singing the song to yourself. She is moving on because she just met this guy and she is letting go of the past. The party at the end? Almost to say Mission Complete. This video is perfect for this Song.

BTW I am working with Jordin this Sat at the Lemon Ball in Philadelphia. If I get to the topic I will ask her about this.
