Things have been really rough for our beloved Alex. Actually, they’ve been rough for everyone on the show, but Alex has had some nasty luck. First, he falls in love with someone that’s mentally ill and then he falls for someone that’s terminably ill and then marries her and then she gets better but then it all gets screwed up anyway. We could probably blame the drama on Katherine Heigl’s here-one-minute-gone-the-next act this year – what with the filming and the new baby – but it’s likely things would be rough no matter what either of the actors was doing.
Katherine Heigl returns for the January 21 episode (and that should hopefully be her last hiatus), but where does that leave Alex and Izzie?
Justin Chambers discussed the subject with TV Guide and revealed that Alex is “just fed up. He’s not built for all of this.” Can’t really blame the guy. But what can we expect to happen to the couple? Do they make it? Do they break up? Chambers thinks it’s possible that Alex and Izzie need a break – perhaps a permanent one. “Maybe they’re not supposed to be together for a while, maybe never.”
Then he went on to add a few spoilers to the table.

In his infinite sadness, Alex winds up at the usual destination for troubled doctors: Joe’s bar, where he – are you ready for this? – ends up in a one-night-stand with … (dun dun dun) … a mystery woman. Okay, so he wouldn’t reveal who it was (my first thought was Reed but that’s probably too obvious).
According to Chambers, fans will be really shocked. “I was totally thrown off by it. I think it’s great though. It just adds a little spice to the show.”
Hmm. Bailey? Cristina? Maybe Teddy but I’m not sure how shocking that would be. Addison?

addison, you could always tell they had feelings for each other, and shes going to be in the next episode on the 14th, which gives them a good chance. cant wait for the drama

Well does Alex drive drunk out to the trailer. It always amazes me the bar drinks GA lets the characters drink and yet no one ever seems to drive drunk!
If Alex is at the trailer is IZ going to turn up and find out. Is Alex goin to fess up?
Too boringly obvious to be Reed. I kinda am hoping it will be Lexie.
I’m guessing Lexie, as it said in aother spoiler that there will be “two-timing” in mark and lexie’s relationship.
LITTLE GREY. I went through all the female characters and checked them off based on other spoilers and what’s been happening this year and lexie is the only obvious choice.
It can’t bee Reed cause we’d all see that coming and its supposed to be a surprise. I’m guessing he and Reed will genuinely be friends and she’s going to catch him and counsel him and clean him up once izzie comes back and he thinks about confessing.
not Mer….obvi not Christina, Bailey, Arizona, or Callie cause they all have their own romantic entanglements coming up in ‘10, and not Addy during this crossover b/c Mark is supposed to get back with her…for the time being
This all leaves Lexie wide open..and grey’s tried this before maybe they want to revisit it..the only other possiblity is Teddy….
