Kate Winslet Is Filming Near Our Office Right Now

Outside Crushable headquarters in New York’s Flatiron District, there are old-timey cars and workaday blokes in overalls. It’s not the 1940s, yo! It’s the location where Kate Winslet is shooting a scene from her upcoming HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce.

Kate was in her trailer when we stopped by, but she was out and about in ’30s regalia earlier today for a scene where her character was “looking for work,” a crew member told Crushable. Filming will continue through the late hours tonight.

Kate — who is divorcing husband Sam Mendes — portrays Mildred Pierce Beragon in the film, based on James M. Cain’s Great Depression-era noir novel. Mildred works as a waitress in Los Angeles, and tries to win the approval of her resentful daughter (Evan Rachel Wood).
