Katharine McPhee is at the center of some rumors. I know I’ve got some Kat fans out there so if you know something, let me know!
So, what’s the latest? Keep reading:
At an event this weekend, producer David Foster (Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Charlotte Church) introduced Kat and announced that he would be producing her next album. This goes along with Kat’s announcement several weeks ago that she will be trying a more AC sound on her next album, which is where Foster’s experience mostly lies.
This, naturally, began spurring rumors that Kat has been dropped by RCA and signed by Warner, with whom David works. This makes logical sense since Kat’s manager, Guy Oseary, also has close ties to Warner. However, there is no official word on whether or not Kat has actually been dropped from RCA.
I love David Foster so I hope he takes good care of her. I think she’s got a future. I’m not sure what she wants or what she is completely meant to do but I’m sure David Foster will figure it out!

Hi Jeanne. Hope you’re feeling better.
Wouldn’t RCA have had to drop Kat? From what I understand AI winners and runners-up are held legally to an RCA contract for a number of years and or recordings made. Unless she had a clever attorney that got her out of it somehow.
I don’t think Kat is dropped from RCA, she is still on their artist site and people are usually dropped from that before the rumors start.
If people think it is because David Foster works for another label they should remember he is working on Whiteny Houston’s album right now and she is still signed to BMG and he worked with DIana DiGarmo on her album in the past.
I know there are people who were at the Sedaka night and thought they heard David Foster say Warner Bros under his breath and he did do that – when he was talking about Renee Olstead, not Kat!
See how easily rumours get started..lol
I couldn’t see RCA dropping her, she sings beautifully and she’s gorgeous!
It is a fact that David Foster will be working with Kat, but there is no official word as of yet if she is going to the Warner label.Being that Foster is with Warner and Kat’s management is Warner it does create a big HMMMMM? And with “OVER IT” just gone GOLD, and her album almost there it might just be a rumor about being dumped by RCA
I may sound stupid, but what does “AC Sound” mean? I can’t figure it out.
Jared, AC means Adult Contemporary.
David Foster is a genius! He was on The View today. I wonder if he mentioned Kat.
I think David Foster will do good things for Kat. He seems to be really interested in her success. I’m not too happy with RCA’s work in distribution and promotion, but I think she will be with RCA for a while.
Rca will drop an artist very quickly if the artist has poor sales. They dropped Bo and he went gold with over 600,000 in sales. Katharine has 360,000 as of last week and it took her 10 months to achieve that amount. Katharine had such high hopes for a successful pop album, she must be devasted that she has to resort to Adult Contemporary.
