For anyone fearful that this meant Katherine Heigl would be leaving the cast of Grey’s Anatomy, fear not! She’s not going anywhere. In fact, the actress is signed for three more years (!), guaranteeing that we’ll be seeing Izzie Stevens at least until season six of Grey’s Anatomy (and hopefully beyond).
In addition, a statement from ABC Television said: “In recognition of her tremendous talent and value to the show, we recently approached Katherine with an offer to raise her compensation significantly above the terms of her current contract. We were surprised to see this gesture reported negatively in the press, and want to reassure fans that she will continue as Izzie Stevens.”
So, maybe the drama isn’t so dramatic after all.

i’m so glad to hear izzie’s staying. i really like her character. i’m excited to see that grey’s anatomy’s not gonna die either, and we can AT LEAST expect 3 more seasons :]

It’s certainly not unusual for an actor to use P.R. tactics to try and improve the the terms of an existing contract – it’s been done for years.
That said, a contract is a contract. So often unknown actors end up in shows that become unexpected hits, and it’s always the same ploy – leak it to the press that you’re not being compensated enough.
I’m all for the girl getting her due, but the fuss is probably more about feeling insulted that a co-star who she views as a detriment to the show is making more than her. That, and she may be feeling peeved if the network gave her a hard time about going public with her gripes about said co-star. And rest assured, the woman was almost certainly given a hard time about that.
Can’t say I blame her…but a contract is a contract, and she’s not going anywhere until it either runs out or they terminate her.
So, who is leaving? George, Christina or Alex? My money is on George !!
Maybe no one is leaving GA all together, maybe one is going to step up and take over Mirandas position as she moves into the Cheifs place. Maybe it would be Christina.

ON MARCH 15 GREY’S ANATOMY IS ON AT 8:00 AND UGLY BETTY IS ON AT 7:00. THERE IS A NEW PILOT AT 9:00. I AM NOT SURE THAT THIS WILL LAST BUT JUST TRY TO REMEMBER SO YOU DON’T MISS IT.
She can leave or stay but who cares! She is so negative.
Again Why did she compare her salary to the two non-white cast members? Why not George, or Addsion if she thinks her acting is so great. This again to me shows a negative hidden rasist side to her.
Think about it..
Seems to me that the only thing you might have against her is that when one actor behaved in a homophobic manner towards another, she finaly spoke up about it. Just because the coworker who made the homophobic slurs is Black does not make the woman a “racist”.
It makes her a person with some degree of social consience.
For the record, since Addison is getting her own show, any attempt to match that salary would be futile. And although it’s been reported that she supposedly was comparing her salary with Washington’s and Oh’s, we don’t know that was the case.
I’m sure she could give a rat’s ass about the race of anyone working with her where salary is concerned – she wants what any actor wants – as much money as she can command. I’m sure every actor in the cast feels exactly the same way. It’s the nature of the business.
Ria – get over the whole race shtick. No one has been accused of racisim on this show – why try to drum it up where it doesn’t exist? You’re like the little boy who cried wolf – you bitch so much where it isn’t appropriate, all the while defending the actions of the actor who made the homophobic slurs I might add, that when a real incident of racism occurs – who will be able to take you seriously?
Take your own advice and let the cast move on from this – without attacking people who rightfully stood up and protested unacceptable behavior.
I believe your heart is in the right place, but you are young and full of piss and vinegar and seeing racisim in people where there is no evidence to suggest it exists.
