It’s like deja vu. Not that long ago (see: last season) we were discussing the possibility that Katherine Heigl might depart the show. Well, now we’re right back to the same topic.
According to Ausiello, Katherine Heigl would likely love to leave the show at the end of season 6 but is obligated to remain in the role until at least season 7 due to her contract. Which means that her fate rests in the hands of Shonda Rhimes and the network. They might let her out of the contract or they might decide to keep her on.
Ausiello’s trusty gut instinct tells him they’ll probably let her go, which is disappointing news for Izzie fans. This is in no way concrete news, of course, but since it’s out there and it does seem like Izzie’s character has a clearly marked exit door that she can walk through at any moment, I thought I’d toss it out there so we can all start to get prepared. Again.

You are about two weeks behind on the news…but they have been saying Heigl will depart since the end of Season 2. Wait and see…noone knows. Personally as a fan of hers I hope she can leave and do movies full time.
Izzie is one of my favorite characters. However, the past episode felt like her exit and I would hate to see her come back and then leave and then come back and leave again. :\

You know I used to like her, but she has gotten so demanding and its nuts! I thought I’d hate to see her leave, but they have done a great job at doing the show without her this year, cause lets face it she hasn’t been on there hardly at all this year. I guess goodbye Izzie and no Katherine I won’t be watching your movies because they suck!!!
I for one would NOT want to see Izzie gone, Yes Greys has been decent this year. But it has been been missing a key ingredient. IZZIE! Hell we already lost George. And the Mercy West people SUCK. So I hope ABC/Shonda decide to keep Izzie/Katherine on for atleast another year and through out the entire season.
I hate to put a damper on this discussion, it’s also a known fact that Ellen Pompeo who plays the shows main character Meredith Grey is also leaving after her contract is up after Season 7 and Ellen has no plans to renew her contract. And any true fan would go back to Season 1 Episode 1 and listen to Chief Webber’s speech, they are starting a 7 year surgical residency, he basically told us the viewers the series will run for 7 years. Will Shonda Rhimes continue with the show once Meredith, Cristina, Izzie and Alex have finished their 7 year surgical residency, do they go on to be attendings? See Cristina become Seattle Grace Mercy West’s attending Cardiothorasic surgeon, with her own little Cristina eager to learn from her. Does Izzie go into general surgery? Or are they forced to transfer to other Hospitals?
we already lost George and even if this season is going well, it’s missing Izzie as much as it’s missing George. Sure, she’s kinda unstable right now but come on , she was dying in the last season, Alex isn’t showing any signs of wanting her back and the Mercy Westers are being complete assholes to her. This is why I loved Season 3 the most. Addie, Izzie AND George were all there.
If Izzie leaves I will literally stop watching the show! Izzie and Karev’s love story is the best one out of all..
My god, just let her go. Would anyone REALLY like to see another season with her if you know that in every scene she’s in she doesn’t really want to but doesn’t have a choice?
The show died when they killed george anyway. Kill off Izzie to and they reunite in heaven, that is the ONLY thing that would make me forgive GA, and that b***h Shonda.

Ellen Pompeo has a major attitude about herself and how she feels ‘entitled’ to her starring role and all that money/fame/notoriety. She doesn’t care about the actual work, whereas Sandra Oh is a consummate and professional actress who is in it for the work.
Prima Donna Patrick Dempsey believes he is a now an A-list movie star. Please! Who is he kidding? He can barely carry Grey’s Anatomy; does he really think he can carry a feature film?
And as for T.R. Knight being gone; good riddance. He can’t act his way out of a paper bag.
What I can’t figure out is why TR and Katherine are whining about their roles on GA and why they want off the series so badly. I mean, are they really that selfish and ungrateful to look at their great opportunities and all that money and willingly walk away from it, when half the country is out of work? Idiots!
And please, GET RID OF CHYLER LEIGH! She’s awful!!!!!
