Kathie Lee Gifford made some comments yesterday that have caused a real stir across the internet. When she and co-host, Hoda Kotb, were talking to MC Hammer yesterday morning, Kathie Lee thought it was appropriate to address the rapper’s 10-year-old son to talk about his father’s failed career. He said that it was not something that should be said to a child and she still pressed on saying that his son could learn lessons from his mistakes. Wow.
Watch the interview (try not to squirm) and let me know what you think:

some people have habit of talking down to black children whose parents are successful by encouraging them with advice to stay in school , not make mistakes ect. it is a form of racial stereo typing and racist thinking. of course the persons guilty of such actions dont think what they are saying is wrong but that is how ignorance works. the perpetrator has no clue.
I’m glad someone else noticed besides me. She leaves Regis’s show saying that she fears for her children, then goes to another station to host a show and doesn’t realize that she is doing the same thing to Hammer’s child that she was trying to protect her children from. What a hypocritical piece of sh-t!
It really did irk me and I agree with what you both wrote here. I can only imagine how upset Hammer was inside.
I actually tolerated Kathie Lee until this interview but now I really feel that Kathie Lee only exposed her true colors. I have even more respect for MC Hammer. Whatever she was trying to achieve by insulting him in front of his son only backfired. From the beginning of the interview, you can see her whole demeanor toward MC Hammer…she looks wary, as if he’s about to steal her purse. Then she treated Jeremiah in the same patronizing way the white woman did in the movie The Color Purple…just so subtle and manipulative. “What can you do to entertain us?” was her attitude toward the young man. She was so sleazy. What a racist, hypocritical woman. It was obvious Jeremiah was just happy to be there. He looked so confused when she started bringing up money. She’s so odd. She turned this sweet moment between father and son into something sour and confusing. She really wrecked the interview and embarassed NBC and the Today show. She’s obviously not professional enough for her position.
I think she suffers from her own insecurity issues and used this passive-aggressive tactic to try to make MC Hammer feel as bad as she feels. It doesn’t work because he may not have as much money but he’s got something she’ll never have.
She’s very, very pathetic.
I think Hammer handled it so well, so in the end it made him stronger.
I missed the show however, I’m hearing the buzz and proud that Hammer continued to be himself. His demeanor is his spirit and he is truly grounded with God. Lucky for her Auntie Burrell was not there, I’m still w-i-p {work in process}. What about her closet? Cody could take a peak at the UNTOLD STORIES but it’s not about that….
I just hope they don’t let her sing. Why are they trying to bring life back into her anyway…
Its okay to be ignorant, its not okay to stay ignorant
I wonder if someone had took the opportunity to belittle her, to her children, on national television, would she have had the same reaction. Why did she feel that the lesson this child needed to learn needed to be at the expense of his father who this child is to look up to aa a role model. She could have simply put that the industry is tough and your father, as well as many others in the industry, must have great strength and be smart to work in such an industry. Pointing out something good about his father would have been much more appropriate.
Stick to the cue cards Kathie!!!
How would Kathy Lee like it if someone asked HER kids if they felt there was a lesson to be learned from men (Frank Gifford, their dad!!) hooking up with random women (a blonde flight attendant) for a night of extra-marital sex in a NY hotel?!?! I predict she would be furious! MC Hammer’s young son behaved impeccably and reacted well when faced with adult questions about a very adult matter, posed by an unprofessional, manipulative and despicable individual .
She is truly ‘ignut. I guess she was afraid that he would jump up and rape her…or maybe she wanted him to..like the scene in “Soul Man” with C. Thomas Howell. Get real lady. I’m sorry that racist like her still exists. The man is trying to have a decent show so we can watch instead of those diseased skanky shows.
