While Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise were in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, they visited the beach at least a couple of times. The family was there for the premiere of Tom’s World War II movie “Valkyrie”. Tom is now in Mexico and walked the red carpet sans Katie.
There were some mixed opinions about Katie’s one shoulder bathing suit that she wore. It’s not my favorite thing that she has worn before, but one thing is for sure…I see NO baby bump!
Tom and Katie took Suri to Urca Beach near Rio de Janeiro followed by a boat trip to Angra dos Reis island. They also got to go on a helicopter ride and see a tour of the city from above. Overall, it seemed like a full and fun trip for the family.

Katie and Suri look so cute….and the bathing suit is awsome!!
Her yellow cover up is cute and this suit, although not fantastic, at least looks more suitable for a young woman to be wearing. It appears as if everyone, including the bodyguard, is dressed in some shade of blue. How cute! Maybe they were all told to wear that color. In any event, I think that is such a cute idea. Katie’s back looks so bony and she looks quite frail. She really needs to gain some weight or at least lift some weights to build some much needed muscle. Its ok to be thin but her back bones are jutting out. The pressure to be skinny is out of control in Hollywoood. Katie looked 100% perfect pre-Cruise and in the infancy stages of their relationship. She was thin but healthy looking. I wish her mom would step in and suggest she gain 10 lbs.
Again,like in every pic the thing that is most obvious is her thinness, and I’m going to say what I really think, and that is, they have hit a rough spot in their marriage. All pics taken of them at premiers and various functions, their bodies are stuck like glue, this time , in London, and in Brazil there is a gap between them, especially at the Rio premier, that was very telling as far as body language goes , personally I don’t think the 5months in NY, was good for their relationship, sometimes Tom never turned up for 2 or 3weeks. In the beginning in NY, Katie was so happy when Tom came, then he started coming less and less. Now it seems its back to NY again , if its true and Katie is making The Extra Man, and the play, hope I’m wrong but I’m not getting good vibes on these two.
Not following you one bit Annie. They appear like they are having a good time together. I thought Tom came to NY a lot when Katie was on Broadway. I hope your wrong about their marriage but most Hollywood couples don’t make it. Tom has been married three times that is not a good sign; he comes from a broken home so can’t fault him. Katie comes from a very strong committed family so hopefully things will be different for this couple. I see them as happy, who really knows? A good friend of mine says it was doomed from the beginning, not a nice thing to say but you have to wonder???
The biggest flag IMO was raised by Tom, himself, when he said he thought Katie was going to ask him to marry her one day so he changed the subject because he wanted to do the asking. I thought, why would she feel the need to do that and, more importantly, why did he stop her, if he already knew he wanted to marry her?
KH looks so old in that swimsuit and the head scarf does nothing for her too. But still love her and her family

Why make assumptions on their marriage and relationship? Does it affect our lives that much? In fact does it affect our lives at all? I personally hate when these posts get to talking about their relationship and marriage. They have enough public scrutiny to deal with in regards to their choice of movies, their clothing, and their body image. What do you say we leave their relationship status out of it. Commentator, I think that should become a rule. Just my thoughts.
Martin Holmes tells British magazine Reveal, “My daughter needs rest, relaxation and recuperation. Katie is already doing exercises to build up her back and shoulders and I simply can’t go along with what is happening.”
Is there any truth to this comment from Mr. Holmes after Suri was born????
Leah, I believe that when 2 people want a relationship to work, it can work through anything but I think that her career might be a stumbling block for them, TC has had a brilliant 25yr career, with a lttle slump and by the look of him now, he’s ready to take it on again by the throat but really for Katie her opportunities are just starting , they actually started with Batman but then she met Tom, had Suri, took a year off and this might not have anything to do with it whatsoever, but NK said that she would never have done 2 movies back to back if she knew it would affected her marriage and he seemes to have broken up with PC, just before she went away for 3 months or so to Egypt or wherever to film Sahara, in the 3yrs they were together I read that she made 5 movies which took her all over the world to make them. I’m not a phycologist or anything but he seems to have a distinct pattern in his relationships, in every way , the way he falls in love straight away, the way he holds them in the same way, the same public kissing and hugging, I never realised he did the same public kissing bit with PC, I never did , until the other day, when I went to one of his fan sites and looked them up. There is something with Katie though that made a huge impression on me, it was at the MI3 movie premier, there was a raffle TC organised, and he was talking into a micraphone, and she was so overcome with him, Katie stroked his back and then kissed his neck, I remember thinking, now thats love, but there is a connection between the women he’s had in his life and their careers, and I could be wrong but it seems to be heading in the same direction like the others. Tom always says how much he admired Paul Newman among many things ,his marriage, but PN said once that when the brakes go on your car , you don’t get a new car , you fix the brakes, I’m not sure that TC can do this, or whether its just easier for him to get a new car.
Sorry Bellegirl these are my thoughts , I’m not bad mouthing anyone, I didn’t make all this up, everything is out there , we discuss pics everyday, this is the impression that comes across, maybe thats why some couples arn’t seen together, or pose together, but Tom and Katie are, so when things look different, you comment, look at the Tropic Thunder premier and look at the recent ones. I
I disagree Annie. I actually think they look “in love” at the Brazilian premiere. Yes, she is standing awkwardly next to Cruise but I would not necessarily take that to mean that she is unhappy with their relationship. I happen to think that they are currently satisfied with their union, however, I do not believe that they will stay married unto death. Statistically the odds are against them for the sheer simple reason that they are a Hollywood couple. Katie appears to still be smitten with Tom and I would wager that she will remain in this wedded bliss state for another ten to max 15 years but eventually I do feel that the marriage will end in divorce. She will come more into her “own” as she matures and this may lead to a division between her and TC. I am no seer, this is just a theory of mine!

Are any of you people married? Just because they arent kissing and hugging all over each other like they did when they first started dating doesn’t mean they are falling out of love! In one of the more recent pics posted Katie has her head on Tom’s shoulder when they are inside a car leaving a restaurant. Now that’s how married people show affection.
Now who is sounding negative Jenna? By the way, I didn’t think I was being negative. Perhaps it came across that way. Regardless, none of us have a crystal ball and none of us are guaranteed that our marriages will last forever. Too much can happen. We will just have to wait and see. There are those long term Hollywood couples out there like John Travolta and Kelly Preston.
Jenna, I don’t think they have fallen out of love, but I think that a little something is up, , I think its on Tomcruise fan.com site there is a pic , that I havn’t seen anywhere else but there , Tom and Katie are on the rooftop of their hotel with their arms around each other, its a distance taken pic, but still quite clear. Starkist I’m married, and have been to the same man for many years, thats why I think what I’m thinking, and I still think it has something to do with career and NY, I don’t know why, I just think that , anyway we’ll see, hope I’m proven wrong ,wrong wrong!
Do you REALLY have nothing better to do than analyze someone else’s relationship. Someone you don’t even know. Come on people. This is getting ridiculous.
I think Katie looks cute and everyone is hard on her, but she did “sign” up for it…comes with that territory. What I think is funny, all the “muscle” they travel around with…its funny.
bellegirl: I am sure we all have much better things to do than anaylze the relationship of a complete stranger; it is silly how we spend time chattering on about these two but doing so is simply a diversion for me, gets me to stop worrying about my research projects and work…… even if its only for a few minutes per day!
I like the color and overall look of the bathing suit. But since she’s little small up top, I would’ve gone for something that enhances that area more. She has a long torso and maybe some ruching (sp?) on the chest area with halter ties instead would break up the look. But I do think EVERYONE looks good and as happy as one can while on an exclusive beach vacation…with a ton of cameras following.

On the subject of Tom and Katie’s marriage, IMO the separations are difficult for any marriage, let alone one that takes place in the public eye as most Hollywood marriages do. Actors, by nature, are very emotional (I know, I work with them! LOL) and very aggressive in terms of their work. You don’t make it in the movie business without putting you career first over all, and that’s what I think ultimately destroys so many “Hollywood marriages”. Whether Tom and Katie end up doing that is anyone’s guess.
The divorce rate is over 50% in this country and the divorce rate is much higher in the entertainment industry. Marriages take work and they take a committment that puts the marriage above everything else. Actors have a problem with that. In Tom’s case, this is his third time at the rodeo. Hopefully, he learned something from his previous divorces and about putting family over career, but the truth is, we have no way of knowing. We also have no way of knowing whether the rumors about Katie wanting to be in NY rather than LA are true. She did, after all, move to NY after her break up with Chris Klein.
I think the entire thing remains to be seen. For me Tom’s history is a concern. So are their careers and the separations they may have to endure.
I wish them the best, but I don’t see Tom and Katie as being married forever either. One never knows though and I remain hopeful for their sake and of course, Suri’s sake.
Also wanted to add:
I don’t believe people “fall out of love”. Real love lasts a lifetime. I think people fall out of what they THOUGHT was love. Katie and Tom started with a bang. Everything moved so fast!! I hope theirs is real love and not a very hot infactuation which led to a pregnancy and a marriage. Huge difference between real love and infatuation that feels like love at the time. That excitement will screw you up every time! After you’re together awhile, you realize it wasn’t “real love” after all. You get a reality check, which can be hard to take.
I’m not saying thats the case with Tom and Katie. I have no way of knowing. I just hope it’s not!!

annie….i know this is off topic but i seem to recall that you mentioned you lived in australia……i have been reading about the horrible wildfires that have been raging through the area….i hope your home and your family are safe. — jenna
Thank you Jenna for your concern thats really lovely, I live in Sydney so we are fine but the worst fires have been in the rural areas, and the outskirts of Melbourne , small towns have all burnt down, livestock have perished and the most terrible thing of all, 170 people have lost their lives, its so sad, because now its raining but its too late. My sister in law is an art teacher who loves everthing to do with nature and animals and everything like that , and they own a 30acre property about 11/2hours out of Sydney in a place called Mangrove Mountain, there was fires coming close to them as well but they were contained, she was concerned for her horses, she loves horseriding and her 2 dogs. I rang her on Sunday, and she said she had packed a bag with important papers and things just to be on the safe side, apparently the fire people can tell if the fire can’t be controlled and they are given 4hours warning to get out of their homes, but all is well, and the rain has helped a lot . It was arson and they have arrested someone. Thank you again Jenna, that was really sweet of you , appreciate you thinking of us.
Oh Annie….thanks for sharing that info, and glad to hear all is well with you and yours. What a terrible shame that so much was lost, lives, properties etc. How very sad. I am relieved they caught the responsible person. Best of luck– Jenna
One thing that has me stooped time and time again. They have all this money yet they can’t seem to keep Suri’s bangs trimmed and out of her eyes. When my child’s bangs are getting long I take the time and money to get them cut. They have far more resources than I do…
In some pics you see Suris hair parted to the side, but after a while it seems to fall in her face, maybe Katie is trying to grow Suris hair but the front isn’t yet long enough to stay in place. Suri suits longer hair, just like her mum.
