Radaronline.com is reporting that Katie Holmes’s brother-in-law, Joseph Jeffrey Fretti, has died suddenly. He was only 48 years old and was found dead by a family friend at the home of his mother’s house in Sarasota, Fl.
Fretti is Katie’s sister oldest sister Tamera’s husband, who is 41.
Jeff Fretti was the owner of a funeral home in Toledo, Ohio. He had taken his two young children to visit his 76-year-old mother.
Sarasota Medical Examiner Russell Vega told RadarOnline.com that a cause of death has yet to be determined but doesn’t suspect foul play or suicide.
Tamera, who was not along for the trip to Sarasota, flew to Florida to bring her two children back home to Toledo.
How sad. My thoughts go out to Katie’s family.

That is very sad news, he had 2 small chidren and was too young to go so early in life.

I’m so sorry for their loss. There is so much grief in losing a loved one suddenly. My heart goes out to them during these difficult times.
My sympathy, hope of healing(especially for the children) and peace go out to the Holmes family.
So sorry to hear this very sad news. My condolences to the Holmes and Fretti families, most especially his children and wife.
How terribly sad for them, and for it to happen on Easter no less… even sadder that the family was not all together when this happened… he was so young to have fatal heart problems. My sympathies to the whole family…
If this sister needs money now b/c her husband passed away, TC who is her family now, needs and must ante it up and help her and her children with alot of cash.
I just read that Tamera and Joseph were separated and had filed for divorce in February. That makes the situation even more sad, IMO. I feel so sorry for both sides of the family and most especially, the young children who lost their father.
I met her brother in law twice – 12 years ago for my father’s funeral and in February for my mom’s funeral. I can’t believe he is gone. I believe his priest spoke at my mom’s funeral too. Jeff was so wonderful to my family and me during our times of sorrow. I am very shocked of the news. Life is so short and we ALL need to enjoy everyday. Prayers are out to the Fretti’s and Holmes family.

g: why, in your opinion, would Katie not fly to Toledo and support her nieces/nephews/and sister during this time? Even if they had separated in Feb. why not still go to see your family? IMHO thats so raw of Katie to not fly in. She has the means to do so….apparently, she felt it was not necessary. IMO she is not a cool sister……liking Katie even less now.

Of course she attended. Out of respect she has not put herself in a position to cause the media to make this situation more painful for the family
