The New York Times Style Magazine did a great interview with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. You can see a clip of it here.
Katie opened up quite a bit about being a mom and about Suri Cruise. When asked what her key to happiness was, she said that focusing on work and family and tuning everything out was the key. She doesn’t pay attention to all of the noise surrounding her.
Moving to New York has been a challenge and has had it’s ups and downs. Katie commented about the lack of underground parking and that “you can’t really sneak in anywhere like you can in L.A.” What’s the upside of living there? Suri. Seeing New York through Suri’s eyes. Suri goes to music class and gets to take walks through Central Park.

We all heard the rumors that Tom Cruise had a gym built in their apartment building. Well, it’s true and Katie confirmed that in the interview. When they first moved there, they took Suri to gymnastics lessons at Chelsea Piers. It was getting difficult though for them to go there. “There were so many people that Tom decided to take over an apartment in our building and turn it into a gym for her,” Katie explains. “He had mats put on the floor and brought in an artist to paint animals on the walls.” Suri now has the gym teacher come to her.
Do you remember the orange dresses that Katie and Suri wore on Halloween? The reason why they are dressed like that is so cute! When Katie asked Suri what she wanted to be for Halloween, Suri said Halloween.
“I asked Suri what she wanted to be for Halloween, and she said she wanted to be Halloween. So I found orange fabric with all these bugs on it and I designed a dress for her and a matching dress for me. We’re sort of pumpkins.”
That is a great story! How cute. What a great interview. It’s so nice to hear from Tom and Katie so much right now.

Suri has a gymn and teacher? WTF? I wish I had one too. I am so jealous.
I can totally understand why Tom did this. If anyone saw the pics and video’s of both Tom and Katie’s trips to to Chelsea Piers with Suri it is obvious that the paps were all over them and there was absolutely no privacy ( remember the pics and vids of Katie and Suri on the trampoline ) so Suri could’nt relax and just have fun . It also seemed like it was also disruptive in general and it wasn’t really fair to everyone else there.
The papparazzi needs to back off Suri a little…they’re obsessed. Either that, or the magazines need to stop buying the pics. She should be able to go to children’s activities without a swarm of photographers following her.
What a great gym it must be,complete with paintings of animals on the walls. I agree Michelle,I can understand why he did it too, and maybe there are other little kids in the apartment building that Suri plays with that we don’t see, who hang out in her gym. Zigzag they’re not going to let up on her because its all about money, Suri is also a very popular tot in Europe as well, don’t know what the paps and mags are going to do when the family goes back to LA , because I don’t think we’ll see them for quite a while.
