Katie Holmes will grace the cover of Glamour Magazine for April’s special 70th anniversary issue, which hits newsstands March 10th. You can see the cover photo here and a beautiful gallery of photos on Glamour’s website. Katie looks SO stunning in the photos!

Katie opens up about being a mom to 2 year-old Suri and also addresses some rumors.

On motherhood: Katie says being a mother “has been the most amazing experience – in an instant you become strong. You have to be a little bit wiser; it’s the most important job in the world."

"During the first couple of days [with Suri], we would just sleep right next to her to make sure she was breathing. And I was constantly learning on the job, but Tom was very helpful and supportive."

Read more below.

On the rumors about her and Tom Cruise’s marriage: "Some of the stuff [people said] was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child. It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough."

On Cruise helping Katie deal with the rumors: "We were changing diapers. He said, ‘I don’t want you to get upset.’ And I said, ‘Well, I am upset.’ So we approached it together." To those who write or report such things, Holmes says she’d like to tell them, "Why don’t you come over and have dinner? See what there is to see."

On dealing with the adversity: "I definitely felt like – as a woman, as the mother of Suri – I want to handle this! My mom is very strong, and if anyone ever said anything about any of us, she would be, ‘Excuse‘ me? That’s my family!"

On being pregnant: "I’m not pregnant right now."

Wow! I can not wait to grab a copy of this issue! More photos of Tom and Katie leaving II Sole restaurant in Los Angeles below.

I really do not care to hear any more about the first weeks of Suri’s life…they keep reliving that story-line for the last three years…..and as far as having dinner to ascertain whether or not their marriage is stable would be unrealistic , for one thats an empty invitation, and two, more importantly, you would not be able to get an accurate assessment of what their home life really is b/c a dinner with them is a mere snapshot of what their union/marriage really is like. I still feel that the marriage is marginally decent as of right now, but mark my words, the marriage will end in dissolution in approx. ten years.

  2. tyler

The photos are well done. The interview, not so much. It’s like listening to a fifth grader speak. Sorry, but true.

  3. masha

    Tyler,
It is true for you but not for me. For me, she is sweet but very strong woman. I really admire her for that.

  4. tyler

I’m not saying she’s not sweet. Maybe that’s part of the little girl rhetoric that comes through her interviews. She doesn’t speak like someone who’s on top of the world at all. The “we can make it” rhetoric smacks of someone who has been counseled.

  5. Kelly

I wrote a post that seemed to vanish…hmmm
Anyway, I think it looks like a good article. As I said in my mysterious post, I only wonder who their publicist is these days? I feel many times they are very ill advised. By saying too little, or too much. Just my opinion.

And to her caring what people think, to me that is a sign of being young, maybe a bit naive. As time goes on I cannot imagine she will give any negative comments a second thought. But when it comes to comments about Suri, well those are just contemptuous.

  6. annie

I have always loved Katies photoshoots and I paticularly like this one in Glamour mag, I thought the interview was good too, I liked the bit where Katie says she always knew she would marry Tom, but the thought of how she would get to him, never crossed her mind. Yes sometimes, she does sound young , but she’s judged so much, and in my opinion she doesn’t milk the position she’s in to the fullest, because I think being judged scares her, but the photos were fabulous, and very natural.

  7. tyler

    Annie,
Given that he was married for most of that time, don’t you think that was an odd thing for her to say that she wanted to find a way to get to him? I’m guessing that her parents babied her since they had her later in life. I see it all the time.

I do agree about the photo shoot. Except for the photo in which she tries to look sultry, I think they’re very well done, much better than the Miu Miu shoot.

  8. masha

And she didn’t take him from a wife or even girlfriend. She got to him when he was single. May be it was accidentally, but I like it.

  9. Diana

Did anyone notice that her nails are painted light green on her right hand, and her left hand has no nail polish on it.

  10. annie

Katie probably was babied, being the youngest out of 5, and from every interview she gives ,she seems very close to them, to her parents and siblings, and thats a nice thing to see, but yes I think that even though I tend to think that she can be determined , and probably has an inner strength, there is this vunrablity to her, that I think would seek the approval of the people she loves. I would love for her to give more interviews maybe with Oprah, probably because she is so open, she would get Katie to open up as well, more photoshoots, because they are so good, she needs to sell herself, to show who she is and not the media continously making her out to whatever suits them, whatever they feel like, I’d like to see her with Tom in an interview together, I agree with Kelly, sometimes they don’t seem to get good advice, because I believe she has it in her to be the best , looks and everything, she somehow needs to grab on to the opportunity that she has and go for it.

  11. kate

I agree with you annie I loved the photoshhoot too.
She says she plays Mary in The Extra Man a woman who works at an environmental magazine wants to change the world one day at a time.
tyler wrote don’t you think that was an odd thing for her to say that she wanted to find a way to get to him?
this is what i copied from the article
when she was around 8 she said
“I’m going to marry him one day.” It wasn’t like, How do I get to Tom Cruise? It was just: I think I’m going to marry him.

  12. Charlotte Rose

The photoshoot is lovely but the entire article feels very rehearsed to me. She seems very well coached. I was waiting for tinkerbell to fly off the pages and rainbows and sunshine to beam from the magazine. It all feels very, very unreal and prepared. Sorry….thats my opinion.

  13. Kelly

tyler: sorry just read more of that article. OK, see where you are coming from…

  14. Starkist

About Katie wanting to marry Tom when she was younger…..well so did I. I mean katie became an actress and just so happened to cross paths with him between marriages. If that is what she wanted than that makes her one lucky girl. There’s a million other ladies out there who have had that same dream of growing up to marry Tom, Brad, or any other handsome big actor.

  15. annie

S ometimes I think people would like it better if Katie went around saying her husband beat the living daylights out of her and the kids.

  16. Mary

I think Katie said it best in her Glamour magazine interview.

“I feel the best response [to all those tabloid stories] is just going about my life: enjoying life, making movies, being a good mom and a good wife, and focusing on that. Because if you’re doing well, what can they say?

  17. Jenna

Even though some think Katie is doing well….there will always be a counter argument: From Fox News this past week. I wondered why after a few days in NYC she was seen in LA…its b/c her part in the new film is very small. I also do not buy that they watch movies in bed and TC cooks….when they are not working they are at restaurants or traveling, unless they watch the movies in hotel beds. I am just glad that Katie for the past few days has been able to enjoy her new home that she has not slept in since June of 2008. FOX News:
Last year, she starred in the miserable and unfunny Mad Money in a terrible third banana part. It was a step down from her previous role in the indie hit Pieces of April, a pre-Cruise triumph that signaled a promising movie career.

Alas, all that seems over now. Katie starts work this week on The Extra Man, a comedy starring Kevin Kline and John C. Reilly. She’s playing pretty much fourth fiddle in The Extra Man, as Kline and Paul Dano are the main characters. Everyone involved says Katie’s part is small and requires very little work.

At 30-years-old, Holmes — who’s attractive, talented, and has name value — should be in the same category as Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams and Angelina Jolie as far as getting good starring roles. It can’t be for lack of trying on her agent’s part since she has the best in the business, Hilda Queally, of Creative Artists. Her turn in Batman Begins almost assured her of a lift into that group, but since her marriage, her career has become more like that of Kelly Preston, another youngish Hollywood wife who gave up the career fast track for family life.

  18. tyler

She lives in Tom’s shadow, and as long as she does, she’ll never be the person Annie speaks of. She’s lucky Tom can’t control her uterus.

She does need to start believing the line that Mary quoted though. The pictures out there don’t tell that story, yet. Maybe she’s working on it.

This interview is IMO one of the reasons she’s not taken too seriously. Some of it was a regurgitation of Tom’s past rhetoric, i.e. Suri is her own person and has a great sense of humor. He has used that one more than once, and when speaking of a 2-3 year old, says little, or nothing. If you’re going to do an interview, say something.

  19. kate

There are lots of people out there who make up stuff about Katie( and other celebs) from things she supposedly said or did and pretty soon it’s spread around on the internet and then put on tv( extra, et, e) and then sometimes these same shows use it in a true or false segment. I think I would do the same thing plan it all out, give the same answers to everyone and just live my life.

I think she wants to be able to work and have a family life so thats how she makes her choices.
Unfortunitly fo me as a fan that means she is not going to devote the time to big movie roles. I think it’s smart to pick a small role after putting all that time into AMS.

I buy what she said about what they do at home especially when we don’t see any pictures of them for awhile.

  20. Mary

I will say again that Katie Holmes is a stronger woman than most people are willing to believe.

She has a grace, diginity, strength and class that she has has held on to even in the face of all the vile and disgusting hings said about her and her family.

She also has an extraordinary work ethic and dedication to family which allowed her even with a grueliing Broadway schedule to make time with her family a priority and also to not miss a single performance of All My Sons.

  21. Leah

I agree with Kate, I too believe that they watch TV in bed together. What difference does it make if its in a hotel Suite? They are doing things together as a family. I also believe that you can tell the personality of a child even at 2-3 years old. Certain personality traits are apparent very early on. I think Katie and Tom know their daughters personality more than some of us give them credit for. Some personality traits are picked up in infancy! That is if you are in tune with your child. I could be wrong but I think this marriage is going to be around a long time. Also, the fact that Katie is already doing a movie role, even if it’s small is huge after all the exhausting hours she put into her Broadway production. I have said it before but I think katie would be a much bigger star if she had not turned down the Dark Night movie; that was a big mistake career wise. However, she did it for her family which says something about her character.

  22. Mary

BTW……………TC cooking is very old news.
If I’m not mistaken Sidney Pollack taught him how to make that Carbonara dsh and he has also spoken about making Turkey for Thanksgiving.

  23. Mary

Sorry about all the missing letters in my spelling today. :)

  24. tyler

Leah, of course all kids have personalities, that’s a given. My only point was that her statements said nothing about her daughter’s personality. She could have easily been talking about any 2-3 year old out there. Waste of print.

  25. Mary

    The questions were:
1)Does Suri know she has famous parents?
    2)Who is she more like?

I thought Katie answered both questions adequately.

  26. Julie Bonner

    Very well said Mary!

“I will say again that Katie Holmes is a stronger woman than most people are willing to believe.

  27. Video of Tom and Katie Arriving at Il Sole

[...] saw the photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes arriving at Il Sole for dinner in West Hollywood on February 28th, [...]

  28. tyler

Julie, sorry, she does what most women do, but with alot more help. Most women today work, have more than one child, and run a household, and most do it without bodyguards, nannys, cooks, maids, or people who run their businesses. So, I don’t get how she’s extraordinary? If she does all those things, then she’s actually quite ordinary as a female. As for her strength, her interviews say nothing, other than she gets angry. Long-suffering is not IMO a trait associated with strength. And, just recently she claimed that she doesn’t read the tabloids so the comments about being strong in the face of adversity should be a non-issue for her.

  29. Mary

I just love this Katie comment in Glamour magazine:
“I feel the best response is just going about my life, making movies, being a good mom and a good wife and focusing on that. Because if you’re doing well what can they say?”

My answer……….Not much Katie. Not much! :)

  30. Mary

BTW most women in our society today utitizes some sort of help whether it’s parents, in-laws, professional nanny services, day care facilities, workplace day care options, after school programs etc.
Rich or poor we all find help someway and somehow.

  31. Mary

The thing I continue to admire about Katie is even with all the help at her disposal she is a constant presence in her child’s life.

  32. masha

    Tyler,
You are funny, I love you! You are and so many fans, haters, critics, and professional psychiatrists comment on every Katie’s move, picture, outfit, interview for almost 4 years and you still don’t get how she’s extraordinary? It is fascinating, and funny!!!

  33. Charlotte Rose

The thing I continue to admire about Katie is even with all the help at her disposal she is a constant presence in her child’s life.

    ————————————–

You state these things as if they are facts, Mary when in reality, you don’t KNOW that. You know only what you see in the outings photographed by the press. My point is this. We don’t know anything for a fact. Only the limited snippets of time we see in the press. I’m not saying Katie is an uninvolved parent or NOT a constant presence in Suri’s life…..only that we cannot possibly know for certain so stating that as a fact is incorrect. What you should say IMHO, is that it’s your OPINION or BELIEF that Katie is….whatever.

By the way, I do believe utilizing day care or family members is quite a different than having nannies, maids, drivers…etc. at one’s disposal. That’s something I believe any parent would agree with. You’re not comparing apples to apples here. Do you have children? I do. Three of them. Honestly, most parents would give their right arm for nannies, maids and drivers! It’s a bit different than taking your child to day care or having your in laws watch them when they can. ;)

  34. Julie Bonner

Tyler, yeah I know. I’m one of those women. Full time job, 3 kids, wife and so many outside activities that keep us plenty busy and yeah, it’s just me and my husband. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Okay, a maid might be nice, lol!

But, I can not imagine trying to do all that and be followed around by cameras, have nasty things said about me, my husband and my children and still seem to have grace like Katie does. I would SO crack! I’d be one of those crazy celebs who wacks the camera out of someone’s hand and just snaps. TMZ would love me. :-)

I do think there is something extraordinary about Tom and Katie, which is why I run this site. I would think that anyone who visits and spends some time here at TomKatCrazy would think the same.

  35. kate

The thing I continue to admire about Katie is even with all the help at her disposal she is a constant presence in her child’s life.
This does not strike me as stating fact but a feeling by the use of the word admire.
I think I would crack too Julie and be in tears especially when they say things about my children or step children(I am a stepmom)

  36. Anne

Fox news sees things the way they want to see them, Katie has just completed a very very successful play on Broadway, yet they are saying that she has given up her career to be a little wife. What does one say to such people? Didn’t Roger Friedman say no one wanted to watch Valkyrie and then have to eat his own words and admit that it did much better than pundits have expected? Fox is not exactly a network anyone should be quoting.

I think it is naive to expect Katie to give a thoroughly open interview. She never gave them before Tom, why give them now? She is not an open person. Secondly if you were criticised at every turn, it makes it difficult to open up and be very candid, unless of course you want the media to scrutnise you more.

Why do some people want Katie to be perfect? Like every one, she is not, her character is shaped by her personal life. She is a last child married to an older man, obviously she will not speak like a woman who grew up with crack addict parents or in a war torn region.

I love the interview and the pictures, I would love to see more of her on the big screen. Hopefully, after her next baby, we should be able to.

  37. Anne

Julie, that is so funny, I think I would be one of those celebs too. Infact, if I was Katie and people said such things about my child, I would be in a rehab for anger management.

  38. Lauren

Why is Tyler bothering to comment and even reply comments of a very ordinary woman like Katie? I am really scratching my head over that one.

CB you can see from pictures that Katie is constantly in Suri’s life, it is not rocket science as you are trying to make it out to be. She went with her to work at the theatre after all didn’t she? It is like saying that we can’t say whether or not Gwen Stephanie is in her boys’ lives when we see her every day in the park with them. It is simple really.

Nothing wrong with using help to raise your children especially with many kids. I prefer Heidi Klum who moves with them than those stars *Brangelina* cough who think that the world believes that they are raising all those children by themselves with only occassional and minimal help. They just want people to think they are super moms when they are not.

  39. Hana

About Tom’s cooking…he cooked Spaghetti Carbonara on the Oprah show in 2004.
For anyone who’s interested here is his recipe.

I thought Katie’s interview was great and loved the photos.

  40. Julie Bonner

Thanks for the link Hana! I’ll definitely be checking out the recipe. I love Carbonara. Although…I bet it would taste better if Tom would come cook it for me. ;-)

  41. Julie Bonner

I apologize for some of the rude comments that have been allowed on here lately. I want this to be a fun place for fans to come for their TomKat news and that’s been my goal from the beginning on here.

  42. annie

Are you the same HANNA, the one that used to visit before?

  43. Hana

Hi Annie, yes I am the same Hana that used to visit before. I regular come to check for Tomkat news and pics but these days I don’t have that much time to leave comments.

Julie, thank you for all your hard works!

  44. Karen

I like Katie Holmes, and think Surie is adorable (like every toddler is), but looking at these pictures, reading articles, etc… where are TC’s other two children. Yes, they have a “mother” in Nicole, but when one marries a partner who has children, the children become the new spouses as well In a sense..they are still a part of the family. Reading this article made me feel that they really are secondary in her life. Now, this may not be the case at all, but her interviews of late, photo ops with Suri, etc…(except for Disney) don’t demonstrate a heck of a lot of involvement with Isabella and Connor (particularly with Isabella)compared to several years ago.

  45. Tracy

I believe the issue with Isabella and Connor can easily be explained with the explanation that both of them are now teenagers. They have their own lives and interests. Suri, as the youngest would demand the most attention. With school and other obiligations, it only makes sense that Katie’s step children would be around less for “photo ops” than Suri, who as a baby is with Katie all the time.
