Katie’s “So You Think You Can Dance” Performance

Last night was the highly anticipated performance by Katie Holmes on “So You Think You Can Dance”. They were celebrating their 100th episode and Katie’s performance was a tribute to Judy Garland and also in support of The Dizzy Feet Foundation.

The hostess introduced Katie’s clip saying, “And although we’ve had some amazing performances on the show, none of them have been as exciting as this next one. The lovely Katie Holmes”.

Not only did Katie dance, but she also sang! The “Get Happy” number opened up with Katie getting out of a car with a black coat and wearing a white top and skirt. I thought she looked amazing! Not only did she look amazing, but when she opened up those vocal cords and sang, she sounded fabulous. This girl can sing!

Overall, I thought Katie did a tremendous job. She sounded good and looked gorgeous! This was a great tribute to Judy Garland, as well as for a good cause. I definitely hope to see Katie Holmes put on her dancing shoes some more.

I personally was disappointed by her dance. For all the hoopla given to this event it was very short. It was obvious she was lipsynching. She didn’t really do much dancing however she did a lot of running around the stage and being lifted. If you don’t agree with my comments check out people.com where everyone voices my same feelings.

I know I will probably be bombarded by people on this page who tell me I’m not being fair but just because she is famous doesn’t mean we have to think everything she does is perfect.

Ballegirl – I don’t think you’ll be bombarded. We are definitely all entitled to our own opinion here! :) The dance number wasn’t quite what I expected and it was surrounded with a lot of hoopla, but only because she is Katie Holmes. I think the main point should be what she did this for – The Dizzy Feet Foundation.

I still think she did a great job, looked amazing and sounded really good(although she was lip syncing). I have read quite a few articles on her performance and everyone seems to agree with your view. Although, I don’t think Katie can do anything these days without people picking it apart and critiquing it. That’s all part of being a celebrity, no matter who you are!

  3. Just My Opinion

I also thought she was “ok” and did not do a lot of dancing but more
moving from here to there and moving her hands and hips. But I give
her credit for trying. I think Katie is very much into getting her
career on an A list level that she is willing to try almost anything:
cameo movie role (The Extra Man), a supporting role on Broadway (All
My Sons), a television appearance (Eli Stone), a reality show (dance
and song number SYTYCD), a movie role (Mad Money), etc., so you
have to hand it to this girl, she is not the best at these things
but she is willing to try.

It only makes you appreciate stars like Judy Garland, Ginger Rodgers,
Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet,
etc., who can sing, dance, act, etc.

I was a little let down by this performance only from the aspect that it was SO hyped as being SO terrific. And it was good…but I wouldn’t say it deserved all that excitement. I thought she looked AMAZING. I thought her singing voice was pretty good. I wasn’t bothered by the lip synching because most people who are dancing and singing at the same time do that. What let me down was the dancing because there just wasn’t much of it. In my opinion, skipping around and walking saucily isn’t really dancing. What is impressing me is her willingness to lend her time, money and name to a very worthwhile cause. So from that aspect I would say it was a huge success.

I expected more dance, but it was a good performance, and she did look amazing!!!

A while ago I said, I wish people didn’t come out to praise her to death before a performance, saying things like oscar worthy, totally incredible and things like that , because they hype everything up so much, that you expect something out of this world, but she is not a professional dancer or singer.
Madonnas voice is not very good , she’s improved over the years, Brittany, Jessica Simpson, they don’t have what you would call good voices, they have catchy songs and video clips and thats it, and the list goes on.
I liked what she did on SYTYCD yet I did’nt like the Eli Stone number much. Katie looked stunning, and I liked her singing, what did everyone want her to do, fling herself across the room, turn sommersalts and splits like the male dancers, I honestly don’t understand what people expect from her.
Katie is never going to get a fair go in anything she does, for some peculiar reason everything she does , gets so blown out of proportion its incredible. I feel a bit sorry for her , they all lip sync so whats the problem. I think producers and directors will take note of her though , she looked amazing, those legs go on forever, and I think she has got what it takes to deliver the goods. Contrary to whatever opinions, I am willing to make a bet that a lot of the upper people in the film and theatre industry liked what they saw.

when it comes to singing and dancing katie is no nicole kidman, not by a long shot!!

BUT, bless her, no one can deny she is certainly willing to try her hand at anything – no matter how poorly received it ends up

the over-hyping is what has soured this for many people and that is NOT katies fault
