Katie Holmes attended the 2009 Elle Women in Hollywood Tribute last night (October 19) in Beverly Hills, CA. The event was held at the Four Seasons. Katie Holmes was among a list of women, which included Julie Andrews, Emily Blunt, Julianne Moore, Zoe Saldana, Robin Wright Penn, Renee Zellweger and casting director Bonnie Timmerman, who were honored by the magazine at last night’s event.

She wore a sheer top, black bra and a Azzedine Alaia skirt. Maybe this look will put those pregnancy rumors to rest because I don’t see a belly…do you? From everything I have read this morning, the media loved Katie’s look.
Katie was also seen shopping at Maxfield yesterday, which is where her clothing line Holmes-Yang will be sold. More pictures of Katie from last night’s Elle event and shopping below.

I have to say I am not a fan of this outfit. Well, some parts of it are ok…the skirt is really pretty and I don’t mind that it is sheer. It could work except for a couple of things. One, it doesn’t look like her bra fits her correctly. To me it looks like her breasts are sort of bulging out of the top of the cups. Also, she is a very slender woman but the way that shirt is tucked into the skirt makes her look like she has a belly bulge. Which I don’t think she does…I am sure it is just the fabric bunching. Plus, I am sorry, but I don’t like the way her hair is styled here. I much preferred her look on the cover of Elle magazine….that was very beautiful…the WHOLE look…from tip to toe.
So much for looking classy and elegant. I don’t mean to be offensive in any way, but I’m very disappointed by this look. That sheer top is awful. One of the things I’ve always admired about Katie is that she didn’t wear trashy clothing like a lot of the hollywood celebs. So much for that. Her bra is ill fitting and looks like something you’d wear to go jogging. If she wanted to go with a look like this, a lacy, well fitting bra might have been the way to go IMHO, although even then I would be disappointed by the non-elegant look of it all. I also see a tummy bulge around the waistband of her skirt. Most of us who have had children have that bulge, but we don’t go showing it off in a sheer blouse!
In addition, and I don’t know how she did it, but the rest of the outfit is just boring and old looking at the same time!! It’s tough to look trashy and old in one outfit, but Katie managed to do it! WOW!
The skirt is not bad, but not for something as wonderful as being honored by a magazine. The shoes are just….well…..boring! Why not strappy, sexy sandals? The whole get up is a mish-mash and a bad one at that!! I’m so disappointed!!
Has anyone seen the pictures of the other honorees? They looked head and shoulders better than our Katie. Renee Zellweger had a beautiful strapless red dress that looked both classy and elegant and a little sexy at the same time. Even Julie Andrews, who’s absolutely ancient, looked better!
Katie, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fire your stylist NOW!! I love ya, but you look awful!!
Just my opinion of course and I hope no one is offended, but this is a giant fashion MISS for Katie.

Katie looks beautiful in the black dress! I wonder what color lipstick she is wearing – ?!? Her hair is looking great too; I bet she does not go short again for a loooong time!

Oh Lord NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do NOT like this look for this event. I like the sheer top and the skirt but do not think she looked radiant enough for the Elle event. She can look STUNNING and I do not see her looking stunning or radiant in these pics. Her hair looks blah….like how I would wear mine for a night out to dinner with gal pals or even for work but for this high class event her hair is not styled enough. The hair “goes” with the feminine looking skirt but again, her outfit looks like something I would wear out to dinner not what I would wear to a big event where I was being honored. Her makeup has also looked MUCH better in events past. Now, the casual outfit she wore shopping to Maxfields was just plain awful. I mean, honestly, kitten heels paired with retro 80’s washed demin and a checkered sweater, thats navy blue with a balck tee under it?? NO NO NO. And her hair…..all scraggly? Pls…I wash my bathroom with my hair looking like that. I would not be caught dead shopping at Maxfields with my hair all scraggly like that. I hate when she looks this dischelved b/c I know she can look GLOWING as she did on the cover in that striking coral dress and sexy tousled hair. Katie, Katie, Katie……look in the mirror before you leave to run errands…you need better advice than what you are receiving if you think you look nice out shopping at MaxF’lds. Argghhh…….
Oh and P.S. I would like to see her with a manicure…. a wash of a light nice color on her bare nails would be called for for this event!

The black outfit is kinda boring, I think she could have “wowed” if she wanted to. Still, it’s not too bad. Although I do love her longer hair, I think she kinda looked old. Love u Katie, but you could have so done better than that.

I saw Katie on Inside Edition, I thought she looked incredibly gorgeous, in a really simple way. I love the skirt, her makeup, her longer hair, I have mixed feelings about the top, I don’t mind the sheer blouse and bra look, it suits her, its just that the skirt, I thought was playful, and maybe a more playful top , maybe off the shoulder. I feel she needed some simple jewellery, to finish it off, not around her neck, but ears and hand. I don’t want to sound like a broken record (which I do) but a lot of the time I find myself thinking something is missing, from the end result. Never the less, k atie is a beautiful young woman, and quite different from other actresses, in look, dress, a whole pile of things really. The other day Kit said that Katie ” used” to have a unique look, I think she ‘’still” does .
Saying all that, I’ve got to say the above photo is very beautiful!
She is such a naturally pretty person and doesn’t need much, but this doesn’t do much for her. She still looks pretty, but I don’t like how it fits her waist and legs.

Overall, okay.
The shoes give the outfit a clunky look though. A pair of sandals would have changed it all.
I wonder if she wanted to go for a totally different look than the one on the cover of ELLE. I somehow don’t think Katie has a stylist, I know the media refer to J Yang as her stylist, but is she, the couple of times that I’ve seen her, she looks like she ’s wearing the same pants and blouse.
The one thing that I have to give to Katie, is she does different looks. I liked RZ dress, but its a style she and EMILY B wear all the time. Another thing that struck me, was Inside Edition only showed Katie at the event, didn’t even mention anyone else.

I think she looks great! Since im in Jersey, near NYC, i miss her short hairstyle. The fall, chilly weather reminds me of the chic-ness she had in 2008. She looks beautiful no matter what her hair lenghth, what she wears, or how her make-up is done. The real beauty of a woman is found in her soul, the place where love resides.Thats her, 100% CLASS ACT…..you are perfect Katie!!
I watched a video on another site and have to say Katie didn’t sound very excited about such a prestigious honor. In fact, she shrugged her shoulders several times when asked what it meant to her, which tells me she’s as confused as some of the rest of us. Body language is a give away. This scenario reminds me a bit of someone else who received a high honor recently
I don’t think that black actually suits Katie , it seems to give her a drained sort of look, paticularly when its up to the neck, and there is nothing to break it up a bit, like some skin. She looks best in nice colours.
Well everyone blasted her at the one awards show where she didn’t wear a bra with her dress so maybe now she decided to show everyone she does wear bras! ha ha
eh,i agree. ill fitting outfit that doesn’t flatter her a all. why look nice when we all know she can look drop dead stunning.
Hey all. The picture I liked the best was the one with her smiling pretty happily it seemed. I think the whole outfit was cute–loved the skirt and the shoes, wish the top had been a bit more playful and not see thru-matching the skirt. She looked great, in the video however, I was (as I am always) a bit disturbed to see her turn to her minder for answers to simple questions. Where is the spark and the vivaciousness She used to show in interviews i.e. David Letterman-when she could joke and laugh and just be herself?
