Kimberly Caldwell's upcoming single "Mess of You"

Remember Kimberly Caldwell? She was the firecracker from American Idol, season two who became even better known when David Cook asked her out on the red carpet before going in for the season finale.

Although I didn’t cheer for her in season two – I was a Clay Aiken supporter – I did always like her voice. It’s kind of husky and reminds me of Melissa Etheridge although it’s also immediately identifiable to me.

Kimberly has an album coming out soon and she gave a sneak peek of the upcoming single at a live performance recently. The song is called “Mess of You” and Kimberly explains to the crowd that although it may sound like it’s a song directed at some guy, it’s actually directed back at herself.

I’m not super crazy about the low parts, I find it hard to even really hear her but it could be the venue and the recording. Regardless, when Kimberly kicks it into full gear she sounds pretty good and I can see it being a hit when it’s released. It seems like it would have appeal on more than one type of radio station.
