Knight Rider to premiere Sept. 24 on NBC

Knight Rider fans got quite a show when the new Attack KITT was unveiled at Comic Con in San Diego, California last week. Click here for more photos of KITT.

On the heels of NBC’s tv movie Knight Rider in February, based on the 1980s television classic with “The Hoff,” Knight Rider is back as a reinvented, updated and super-charged action series showcasing the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand).

KITT is equipped with artificial intelligence and is capable of just about anything. Its weapons match that of a jet fighter, and its body can transform into other vehicles. Using holographic imagery, KITT can even elude villains (wish I could do that!).

Comic-Con 2008 - Day 2

Knight Rider stars Justin Bruening (Cold Case, All My Children) as Mike Tracer, estranged son of Michael Knight (the original series’ hero played by David Hasselhoff).

Bruening spent four seasons on ABC soap All My Children as Jamie Martin and briefly starred in ABC’s One Life to Live as the same character. He has guest starred on Cold Case, CSI: Miami and Hope & Faith.

Bruening will celebrate his birthday on Sept. 24, the date of Knight Rider’s premiere on NBC this fall. He is married to All My Children actress Alexa Havins (Babe Carey Chandler).

Deanna Russo stars as Sarah Graiman, childhood best friend and one-time girlfriend of Mike Tracer.

Russo is best known for her role as Dr. Logan Armstrong on the daytime drama The Young and the Restless. She has guest-starred on N.C.I.S., How I Met Your Mother, Charmed, CSI and CSI: New York. Her film credits include Ghost Voyage, Dirt on Leaves, The Believers and Rest Stop.

Knight Rider also features Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Bruce Davison (Breach).

Poitier stars as Carrie Ruvai, a tough FBI agent who doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Mike Tracer (Bruening). Poitier is the daughter of legendary actor Sidney Poitier. Her film credits include  True Crime, MacArthur Park, Happy Birthday and Devil Cats.

Poitier was the lead in the series Abby and also was a series regular on First Years and Joan of Arcadia. She had a recurring role in Veronica Mars and has guest-starred on Grey’s Anatomy and The Twilight Zone.

Davison stars as Charles Graiman, creator of KITT and Sarah’s father. He is currently shooting the TV movie The Librarian 3: The Curse of the Judas Chalice starring Noah Wyle, set to premiere in Winter 2008. He just recently finished the independent feature film La Linea, starring opposite Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta. The story of an unstable new kingpin of a Tijuana drug cartel who is targeted by an assassin is set for release in Fall 2008. He also plays Dr. Silberman in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. He also has numerous other TV credits to his name including Close to Home, The L Word, Law & Order: SVU, Lost, Numb3rs, Battlestar: Galactica and Seinfeld. His previous film credits include X-Men, X2 Breach, Runaway Jury, High Crimes, Crazy Beautiful, The Crucible and Short Cuts. Davison is a two-time Golden Glove winner for his supporting role in the film Longtime Companion. He also won a second Golden Globe for best ensemble cast in Robert Altman’s film Short Cuts.

David Bartis (Heist, The O.C.), Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity) and Gary Scott Thompson (Las Vegas, The Fast and The Furious) are executive producers. Based on characters created by Glen Larson, Knight Rider is from Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions.
